Bottle. Woody vanilla and chocolate malted milk ball aroma. Dark chestnut with minimal head. Chocolate malted milk ball flavor. Sweet but not a bad beers, especially for Abita.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
22 oz bottle from Rouses Market in New Orleans, Louisiana, served in a wine glass. Pours hazy chestnut with a small tan head that fades to a thin remnant and leaves a trivial amount of lace. The nose has notes of molasses, nuts, chocolate, coffee and vanilla, along with lager yeast and a touch of earth. The flavour is quite sweet, with caramel malts, molasses and chocolate. There are also notes of coffee and a slight hop bitterness provides some balance. The finish is long and malty with molasses and chocolate. On the palate, it is medium in body with a smooth, milky texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this ale has a nice aroma but the body and back side disappoints. I would have liked a bigger flavour and more complexity. 2012-04-29

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Love this one. Medium tan head, hints of vanilla and chocolate. I’m lovin’ the vanilla finish, and the increased ABV is hidden well.

3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
660ml bottle shared with czar, minderbinder and friends. Pours a ruby, dark brown with a short lasting white head. Smells like something acidic...green apple? Taster is roast, grilled. Dry bread. Subtle vanilla. Finish is tart, some earthy, English hops. Light to medium body, somewhat oily mouthfeel. Not a super dark...kind of disappointed.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Location: 22 oz bottle from Oak Tree, 12/2/12
This beer has a sweet vanilla and toffee scent, quite nice. Medium darkness, not quite as dark as a porter. The taste is malty and fairly sweet with some vanilla undertones. A nice desert beer but nothing spectacular.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Location: 22 oz bottle from Half Time, 12/2/12
Aroma: The nose is fairly subtle, some sweet malts, vanilla, caramel, and a little roast
Appearance: It pours a dark brown color with a small beige head and fairly light lace
Flavor: The taste is much the same, fairly sweet with some definite vanilla, and a little roast
Palate: This one feels fairly light for the style and a little watery, with an average carbonation
This beer is fine, but nothing special. There’s nothing wrong with it, it just felt a little dull.
