660 ml bottle. Pours a clear ruby brown with a short lasting white head. Smell is salty, burnt caramel. Taste is spicy, caramel, burnt toast, not so tasty...Finish is spicy hops, some tartness. Lingering caramel. Light body, sticky mouthfeel. Good, but not a super dubbel...

4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma: sweet caramel, candy, smells delicious
Appearance: beautiful thick and dark head, beer is brown, slightly transparent
Taste: roasted malt, caramel, slight bitterness
Palate: creamy on the tongue, slight dry hop aftertaste
Overall: this beer looks beautiful with its color and head, smells great too, after that I was slightly let down when I tasted it but still a good beer I'd drink again

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
bottle from VT and shared with friends. almost clear dark golden-reddish with a decent creamy off-white head, some retention. caramel, fruitiness, some burnt notes, nuts, chocolate, bbq lays *TM, paprika, spices. average carbonation, medium body, nice herbal-citrusy and lightly acidic finish. this brew is decent for sure, but not so close to a dubbel.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours clear amber with low beige head. High lacing. Aroma is of malt, fruits, sweetness. Taste is of malt, fruits, sweetness, sligth acidity. Palate: ligth-medium, quite ligth for an Abbey Dubbel. Overall: Easily drinkable, but nothing outstanding.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Not terrible overall but this is a great style with a product that was a little disappointing. Not a whole lot great to talk about; thin, sour, weak nose. I like other Abita brews and was pumped about this one, too bad.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Nose is caramel. Taste is sour. After drinking the first bit of this, the taste seems to mellow out and became less sour.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Nice pour with foamy head that disappears a little quick. Good lacing. Aroma is good, but a little light for my preference. Taste is great with hints of vanilla, banana, and big malt flavor! Love it. Also very "clean" tasting with just the right amount of hop after taste for this style.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Abita Abbey - Ample head with consistent rings of lacing. Aroma of raisins, apples, and yeast, along with a hint of spices. Flavor is where it goes downhill - not very complex or elegant for the style at all - very acidic with a tart apple taste that overwhelms almost everything else except for some bready malt. Seems more like a less-than-stellar tripel than the dubbel it’s labeled as. Not thrilled with this abbey. Booze is poorly hidden as well - kind of a mess overall, really. Will finish this bomber, but do not want to get again.
