2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 exparte (59) - Austin, Texas, USA - NOV 13, 2009
My immediate impression of this beer was, "Hey that’s pretty good!" But then it progressed to soy sauce, soy sauce, soy sauce, soy sauce with alcohol warmth, soy sauce with alcohol warmth and aluminum. The more I drank the less I enjoyed. Won’t buy again. Beautiful bottle though.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 MikeyMalts (56) - Davis, California, USA - NOV 5, 2011
22oz bottle. Poured into tulip glass. Appearance: Dark brown, hazy, minimal head, white foam, good lacing. Aroma: Sweet. Honey, grapes, figs, plums, cherries. Taste: Sweet malts. Lots and lots of carbonation. A little sourness. Vanilla, brown sugar, grapes, some molasses. Some bitterness on finish. Palate: Med bodied. Smooth. Creamy. Leaves almost like a taste residue on tongue after finish. Overall: It’s alright. I do like some of Abita’s brews, but this isn’t like my favorite. I’m happy to have tried it, but better dubbels are out there. Give it a shot though, it’s not bad.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 pari6819 (54) - Florida, USA - MAR 20, 2012
This beer to me had an overabundance of honey and butterscotch notes. It was a bit difficult to enjoy as I found it to be too sweet for my taste. Its aroma had a lot of what I can only describe as white grape components. This aspect gave hint to a finish that was kind of sugary sweet as well.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 teebradford (51) - Senatobia, Mississippi, USA - JAN 15, 2010
I think the backbone of this beer is probably really good. Not that you would know it. The smell and taste is overrun with cloves. Way too many cloves. This beer has a beautiful color and head. I think if Abita had just not included the cloves it would have been really good. I wish I could comment on the malt and hop profile, but I can’t. The cloves.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 makyo (45) - Alabama, USA - MAR 15, 2012
Initial taste is fine: malty maybe a little fruity, but aftertastes gets a little rotten. We poured it sloppy but it had a head for quite a while.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Moosington (28) - Costa Mesa, California, USA - APR 13, 2009
Bomber from Hi-Time. Pours a brownish amber with a decent off-white head providing okay lacing. Aromas of dark fruity esters, some spice and candy/bubblegum typical for the style. Flavor follows suit, dark fruit (raisin), slight clovey spice with the brown sugar finish. Mouthfeel was fairly heavy, but seemed a bit lighter for the style. Overall this is a pretty good dubbel, and for the price, is worth picking up.
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Suliman (27) - USA - JUN 12, 2011
Cellared for about a year. I really like this bottle, having the graphics printed right on the bottle gives it a nice look. Pours a fairly dark amber with a off-white head that doesn’t dissapate quickly. Aroma of caramel with some fruit. Nice mouthfeel with some fruit characters in the taste.
1.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 ConcreteLance (16) - Milton, Florida, USA - APR 18, 2012
Aroma reminded me of apple cider. Clean looking beer with carbonation that reminded me of champagne. Taste was heavy apple juice, with other fruity notes. Thin, fizzy palate. Tasted several beers this night, and this was one of the least memorable. I’ve had my first and last one of these.
