Bottle.
Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly lasting.
Body is medium amber.
Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, toasted grain), lightly yeasty (cobwebs), with notes of orange, gum, cinnamon.
Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter, unclean.
Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic.
Unpleasantly sour (like fruit juice was added) with a dirty aftertaste, but the aroma is ok.
3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 JPDIPSO (4957) - Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 29, 2009
Copper and garnet colors mingle below a vast amount of tiny, tight, tan bubbles. Some dark caramel and DMS scents (mostly of the creamed corn variety) along with a hint of floral hops. There are some dark spices and fruit buried underneath, but it do seem to have to dig for them. The side dish of vegetables is just killing the aroma for me. Luckily after a few minutes it is evaporating, but, it seems like it is being replaced by licorice. Ugh! LIght toffee flavors in the front. LIght fruit of raisins, plums and apricots dance about with a light spice of cloves and allspice. This one does really need some time in the glass to come together, albeit, it was a far ways apart to begin with, so perhaps I should say closer together. Certainly some dubbel qualities, just disjointed and raw.

bottle, amber color with overflowing foam, aroma of yeasty sugar, flavor starts off well as a typical dubbel but gets very weak very fast, plain overall

Sampled on 3/9/2009. This abbey double pours a medium reddish amber color from a 22 oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head, with decent retention. The aroma is fruity and sweet, caramel and a touch of yeast. A medium bodied double. The malts are caramel, fruity and sweet, touches of raisins, plums and a little banana and clove. The hops are earthy. Nice balance. Decent, lively carbonation. A touch dry at the finish. Not a bad double. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean, smooth and dry. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Ibrew2or3 (4903) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - MAR 28, 2009
Courtesy of kiefdog. Pours clear copper with amber core and nice tan head. The aroma is apple, a bit of cinnamon, a bit of cabbage, spice and Belgian candi sugar. The taste seems bright with fruitiness like apples and sweet ripe cherries to go along with yeasty spice and coriander. Seems a bit bright and disjointed.

22oz. Bottle: Aroma of malts, toffee, dark ripe fruits, yeast, light plastic, sugar, brown sugar, and something gross that I cannot put my finger on. Poured copper/deep amber in color with a large, dense, light beige head that lasted throughout. Hazy. Very sparkling. Good lacing. Flavor is medium sweet. Tastes of malts, dark ripe fruits, brown sugar, toffee, light wood, yeast, plums, grapes, caramel, and jelly. Cloying sweetness. Medium body. Smooth texture. Average carbonation. Sweet, cloying, dark ripe fruit body. 8%ABV is well hidden.

Bomber. Deep copper red body with a dense khaki head. The nose is sweet and doughy with some bananas. There is also a little bit of leather funk and caramel. Lots of caramel and a little bit of orange peel. There is also some nice sweet glazed donuts. A decent brew overall that has a little bit of booze in the finish. Good but not great.
