2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 urbnhautebourg (997) - Annapolis, Maryland, USA - JUL 29, 2009
This was badly positioned in my night of tasting--right after the remarkable La Chouffe. It suffered badly for it. A little bit of smokiness which rises up in your nose, with a lot of dirty caramel providing most of the flavor here.
2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 Vac (2442) - Soon to be back in San Diego, California, USA - FEB 12, 2010
Pours with a red body topped by a thick head with a good amount of lacing left on the glass. It’s slightly sweet and malty with strong anise notes and a touch of sourness. Full bodied and harsh.

Pours a lightish amber with some head. Smells like rancid malt. A bit metallic, gross. Taste is the same, with maybe a bit of ketchup thrown on there. Also pennies. Atleast the brewery donates money to charity when you buy this. They should just give it back though.
2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20 adnielsen (3704) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - DEC 18, 2010
Tasted from a 650 mL bottle purchased in Fort Collins, Colorado. Pours a reddish body with a tan colored head. Slight candy sugar with a more pronounced raisin aroma with the typical Belgian smell. Kind of a flat body with dark candy sugar flavor that’s very untasty. Big alcohol taste in there. Incredibly disappointing and distasteful beer.
2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 5/20 DigitalMan (192) - Idaho, USA - OCT 5, 2010
Deep red-brown with light tan head. Smell of sweet and sour fruit. Flavor isn’t quite funky/rotten, but definitely sour-ish and not my thing.
1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 6/20 OSLO (1131) - Ames, Iowa, USA - JAN 25, 2009
[Bottle] Wow, looking at the other ratings I have to wonder if the beer I got was a bad bottle or what, because what I sampled was truly awful. The aroma was plastic and play-doh. The taste had a decent amount of green grape and also an unusual, unappealing taste that I associated with the play-doh aroma. Poured dark golden with nearly no head. Average mouthfeel with a finish that was (unfortunately) long. I like abbey dubbels, but this was really wretched stuff that I don’t even like to recall drinking.
1.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 ConcreteLance (16) - Milton, Florida, USA - APR 18, 2012
Aroma reminded me of apple cider. Clean looking beer with carbonation that reminded me of champagne. Taste was heavy apple juice, with other fruity notes. Thin, fizzy palate. Tasted several beers this night, and this was one of the least memorable. I’ve had my first and last one of these.

Pours a darker muddy brown with a small head. Super sweet corn syrup earthy vegetable aroma super phenolic and yeasty. Flavor is... bleh... corn meal... wet hay...
1.5 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 6/20 thirdeye11 (4091) - Dallas, Texas, USA - JUN 26, 2009
The smell on this one is of bad trash and when you swirl the glass it becomes heavily infused with a cream corn aroma. Disgusting.
The look is the only aspect of this beer that is very good. It pours a medium brown with hints of orange on the edges when held to light. Taste is sour and not in a good way, and there are some off/funky flavors here too, also not in a good way. There is vinegar and cider present that tastes rotten as well. THIS IS BAD and after about 1oz I drainpoured the remainder of my sample.
0.9 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 1/20 Chudwick (549) - Taylor Mill (KY), FRANCE - OCT 19, 2011
22oz bottle in pint glass - pours clear amber with beige head and moderate lacing. Nose is cereal or oats, barley and more malts. Aroma is roasted malts with coffee/caramel. Finishes quite dry. Taste is sweet. Reminds me of my visit to the Four Roses Bourbon Distillery and this is not a compliment. This has got to be the worst Dubbel I’ve ever had. I’m pouring this down the drain. Gross.
