COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Abbey Ale honors the ancient tradition of monks who perfected the art of brewing beer to support the monastery and the brothers with their "liquid bread". We offer up our support and thank them with a 25 cent donation to St. Joseph’s Abbey with every bottle of this heavenly brew. Dark in amber color, the aroma of caramel, fruits and cloves invites you to contemplate the creamy head of this "dubbel" or double ale. Abita Abbey Ale is a malty brew, top-fermented and bottle aged to rapturous perfection.

There a lot of classic flavors in here, malty backbone, good yeasty flavor with a dry, spicy finish. I liked it, but found the finish kind of harsh and unrefined.

Bottle. Definitely a take on ’liquid bread’; the nose alone has enough caramel to cause weight gain, along with dark fruit and molasses. Pours a dark brown with a light, cinnamon head. Drier than expected on the tongue, with a full, malty, yeasty body; silky mouthfeel. Finishes long and dry, with some phenols and a little tightness. Good.

Solid beer. i do think turbodog, andy gator, and resurrection ale are better. But thus was pretty decent, too.

Bottle shared. Clear amber pour with an off white head. Aroma of ripe fruit and malt. Flavour has same aspects. Medium body and carbonation. Good but nothing special

Aroma reminded me of apple cider. Clean looking beer with carbonation that reminded me of champagne. Taste was heavy apple juice, with other fruity notes. Thin, fizzy palate. Tasted several beers this night, and this was one of the least memorable. I’ve had my first and last one of these.

Deep ruby color with a medium off-white head. The nose is caramel malt, strawberry, spicy yeast. Quite sugary. Very malty. The taste is sweet, brioche bread maltiness, brown sugar. Plenty of yeasty notes. A bit thin and one-dimensional in taste. Medium/full bodied, actively carbonated. Overall, a decent beer.

This beer to me had an overabundance of honey and butterscotch notes. It was a bit difficult to enjoy as I found it to be too sweet for my taste. Its aroma had a lot of what I can only describe as white grape components. This aspect gave hint to a finish that was kind of sugary sweet as well.

Initial taste is fine: malty maybe a little fruity, but aftertastes gets a little rotten. We poured it sloppy but it had a head for quite a while. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22oz bomber poured into my Chimay Trappist Glass. Pours a cloudy light brown with about a finger of thick off-white head. Aroma of sweet and doughy malt with a little banana and caramel with just a little hint of spice. Taste is light sweet and light bitter. Caramel, light spicy hops a little banana. Full bodied with a thick and creamy texture. Lively carbonation and a long bitter finish. Overall, it’s not too bad. Much better than I was expecting from Abita.

Pours a hazy deep amber with thin white head. aroma of roasted malts and chocolate. Flavor is malty but not very powerful. Pretty weak.
