2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 rubbishystuff (1202) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - SEP 4, 2010
I think this was a beer of the month club selection. Decent lager, nothing too exciting but would choose it over some of its paler cousins. Serving: Bottle
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 GKillian (525) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - AUG 31, 2010
Pours amber with thick beige head and foamy lacing. Notes of caramel with a hint of pine. Well balanced taste with a short finish. Definitely sessionable.

UPDATED: MAR 25, 2011 No wonder the top of the label reads, "Brewed & Bottled with Pure Spring Water" as it seems the fresh cleanliness of the water has no problem pronouncing itself through the ingredients that would ideally give a beer flavor. Yes, the pure water is the dominant characteristic of Abita Amber. Maybe that’s a little harsh, but really, she’s a bit devoid of anything outstanding in the taste department. The color is a very pleasing dark golden-orange, and pours with a bit of soapy lacing and pleasantly light but present enough carbonation. Going back to the aforementioned theme of the beer, it feels a bit thin, with an inoffensive subtle grainy sweetness. I will give Abita credit for not killing us with the excessively malty flavor that most smaller American breweries are guilty of when producing anything darker than pale lager. All said, pretty refreshing, inoffensive, but pretty bland.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Zane_Hilton (4) - USA - AUG 7, 2010 does not count
This is what I drink most commonly. It’s exactly as advertised, its an amber lager designed to be consumed in the New Orleans heat. It’s light and refreshing. Not my favorite from abita, but its their most common. I get a lot of enjoyment from having this beer as my standby.
medium body, average carbonation, long finish, medium sweetness, lightly bitter, lightly sour, amber, minimal head, caramel,
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 jarow (237) - Massachusetts, USA - AUG 2, 2010
Bottle. Pours amber with a white head. Nose is pretty weak - light bready malt and just a hint of piney hops. Taste is more or less the same - watery, just a suggestion of hops towards the finish.

Poured from bottle, nothing special, but notcompletely horrible by any means. slight aroma of dirty socks and malt, pours a nice clear amber color with no head, no lacing at all, not very complex , a below average beer from Abita.
