TheBeerGod (3143), Newport News, Virginia, USA Sep 3, 2006 Bottle. Pours amber with a small white head. Nose is malty and slightly hoppy with some caramel notes and light spice notes. Taste is also caramel with sweet malts and soft fruit notes. Light spicy hop notes as well. Body is light and crisp. Finishes with more caramel, sweet malts, soft fruit and light spicy hops. TPaliga (212), Munster, Indiana, USA Aug 31, 2006 Strange brew. Pours amber with white head. The aroma was very earthy and barnyard. The flavor was sweet and caramelly. Not much hop character to speak of. Not a lot going on. Too sweet for my taste. jrob21 (1251), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Aug 20, 2006 Not much exciting with this one. A predominately bitter taste with slight malt character to mellow it a bit. marchcow (664), Coralville, Iowa, USA Aug 20, 2006 Very unusual aroma- wasn’t sure how a beer could smell like barnyard or horseblanket until trying this one. Smelled like damp wool. Flavor wasn’t bad though. Average on all other levels. The 20th anniversary pilsner was much much better. Beerdedone (1873), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 14, 2006 Bottle sampled with Stegosaurus. Pours amber with a white head. Aroma of citrus, sweetness, and caramel malts. Flavor is sweet, caramel, and carbonation. drinkable. decaturstevo (1971), decatur, Tennessee, USA Aug 13, 2006 Thanks Monger. A light roasted malt aroma from a nice amber pour with a light head A light malty flavor. just a tad overly carbonated and fizzy. Not my favorite beer but drinkable. xav33 (313), Midland, MI, Michigan, USA Aug 8, 2006 Abita Amber Lager
12 oz bottle
Recent bottling, ingurgitated 08/06
Medium pour in a pint glass.
Poured clear copper with quickly diminishing white 1/8 inch head.
Smelt of maltiness and hint of caramel
Flavor started off malty and bland with a touch of sweet caramel on the body with barely any finish. Overall watery and simple. Mouthfeel was light and lively.
Overall, only the color hints that this is an attempt at an amber beer. IrishBoy (2685), Bakersfield, California, USA Aug 7, 2006 Nose of fruity caramelly malt; light amber color with a medium yellow-tinged head that didn’t hang around too long; flavor show some malt but also buttery diacetyl, which I don’t really care for.
