2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Skyview (4739) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - DEC 31, 2007
One of the 12-oz bottles sampled from the Abita Party Pack, acquired from Cellar’s Wine & Spirits in St Paul, MN. Pours a clear light amber brew with a fast dissolving off-white head that leaves behind a thin white ring and no lacing. Aroma of light caramel malt, some grassy and citrus hops and a touch of toffee. Taste is light bodied, well-carbonated with some caramel malt and citrus hop flavors. Finish is a little thin and watery with a light caramel and metallic aftertaste.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Wulfstan (509) - California, USA - DEC 30, 2007
This is not bad, but not great. It’s a fairly pedestrian and somewhat bland vienna but has some enjoyable taste that does persist and is very easy to drink. It’s amber with a medium off-white head that dissipates fairly quickly to a ring and wisps. The aroma is definitely normal in style for a vienna, but on the mild side: slightly earthy, toffee,, malt and bread. The taste is similar, with only faint sweetness and essentially no bitterness at all. It’s smooth, and the taste that it has persists and is always noticeable evenly through the drink, but it’s overall weak, bland, and not exciting.
2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Swalden28 (2541) - McKinney, Texas, USA - DEC 24, 2007
Tis beer is pretty basic craft lager. Nothing speacial. Pours a nice amber with ok head retintion. Not a bad beer but somewhat boring. Has a ok malty flavor and hints of dark roast.

Abita is to New Orleans what Big rock is to Alberta-- EVERYWHERE! And this vienna (amber ale) is the most commonly encountered of all. Dark orange amber, hempy, earthy aroma. Pretty thin palate of earthy caramel with a mild sweetness.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 nearbeer (2572) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - DEC 2, 2007
UPDATED: SEP 16, 2008 Bottle. Burnt orange with a three-finger head that lasts well. Aroma is sweet grass and dry grains. Flavor is slightly sweet and sourish dry grain, toasted nut, caramel and corn. The mild sweetness fades slowly into a wrestling match with some understated spicy-grassy hops and finishes in a draw. Light-medium bodied, smooth, slightly tingly and dry.
2.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 cheapdark (2809) - Quiptown & Central Valley, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 29, 2007
UPDATED: JAN 1, 2008 A darker than average free spirited and easy appearance. Gallant carbonation. Taste is intriguing without being offensive. Meloncholy yet lighthearted. I don’t think this is on par with Rivertowne Last Chance Vienna Lager
but it is ceratinly better than Penn Pilsner and Schell firebrick. Serene tranquil finish. Could easily drink again.
2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Charlzm (246) - Los Angeles, California, USA - NOV 28, 2007
UPDATED: NOV 29, 2007 bottled, consumed on 11/28/07. Pours a nice coppery shade with the palest of yellow heads. Good retention, carbonation still going after 10 minutes in glass. Uh-oh... butterscoch in the aroma, along with cane sugar. Maybe some vegatable notes? Full-on corn and grain flavor with metallic undertones. Slightest hint of yeast spiciness. Luckily, diacetyl hinted at in nose was not present in mouth. Faint bitterness lingers on tongue. This is not terrible, but is just kind of off somehow.
