teebradford (46), Senatobia, Mississippi, USA Apr 21, 2006 Updated: Apr 22, 2006The flagship "mediocre" beer. It really won’t exite you, but hey, its not bad! Buttery undertones. You can definitely drink a lot of this, and it yields a nice buzz. I can get it for 7 bucks a sixpack up here, which ain’t bad. Nope, not bad at all. I have a song in my head that I can’t shake. It’s from a British band called "The boyleast likely to". Anyway, the beer. Yeh, its OK. All you god damn beer snobs get on my nerves sometimes with your snotty reviews. Drink and shut up! Cheers. jonwayne4883 (401), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Apr 18, 2006 an average amber ale, not quite as good as the turbodog or the purple haze...maybe this should have been named after a hendrix song too kingfiogojr (78), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Apr 13, 2006 Pretty standard lager affair right here. Not a terrbly light beer, it has a good flavor, medium color, and it goes down smooth. It’s refreshing above all else. I give it good marks. zach8270 (2051), Henrietta, New York, USA Apr 13, 2006 Updated: Dec 20, 2008[bottle - 12 oz] Orange color with a nice white head. Aroma is some dry hops, grains, corn and some sweet malts under everything. The flavor begins with a dry and grainy taste with a slight malt hint in the middle and a hoppy and dry grain finish. Slightly bitter and rather watery. [[900th Rating]] ehhdayton (1113), USA Apr 6, 2006 The aroma is not much except for some slight caramel maltiness. The color is a clear amber with a light golden head. Head retention is short and lacing is nonexistent. While there is a mild caramel sweetness at the forefront this quickly evaporates to a light watery finish. skaughty (621), Marietta, Georgia, USA Mar 28, 2006 Yawn. Nearly nothing unique to note here. The sweetness is overcome by the flatness in the finish. Zeswaft (1000), Seattle, Washington, USA Mar 27, 2006 This beer really has nothing going for it. It has an ugly all malt aroma. Flavor is malty and somewhat like popcorn. Buying this is my contribution to the Katrina Relief murrayswine (101), Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, USA Mar 27, 2006 The beer pours a nice true amber color with a nice 3/4 inch head.
The smell is rich with butter, slight hops, bread hints, and toasted cashews.
The taste is nothing to jump about, it isnt bad, but it isnt spectacular. It’s obvious that Turbodog is the Abita Flagship. It has a good hops sense, but the butter cream is watered out. As a session beer goes, this is as mild and tepid as it gets, a good landmark Louisiana Brew, but jump for Turbodog first.
