Abita Amber is a Munich style lager brewed with crystal malt and Perle hops. It has a smooth, malty, slightly caramel flavor and a rich amber color.

Bottle - TWM Sterling - Pours a clear burnt orange with a thin white head and tiny bubbles. Aroma is light, caramel malt. Reminds me of tonic water, not getting a lot of taste.Palate is slightly oily. Overall, this veers a little too close to BMC for my liking.

Slightly hazy amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt and grain. Taste is pretty much the same, unoffensive, but dull. Light bodied.

Cloudy amber pour, modest head, low retention. Sweet malty nose some grains, very pleasant. The flavor is similar to the nose, but modest at best, sweet grains with some yeast and malt, good enough. Pleasant on all fronts this beer lacks punch and individuality not bad but not exceptional.

Poured from a bottle. Appearance is a translucent amber with an off-white head of quickly dissipating foam. Aroma is very light, but I do pick up on a caramel malt essence. Taste is a little more evident in that it has a taste of toffee and nuts fading to a doughy finish. Alright mouthfeel. Aftertaste reminds me of cooked carrots.

Bottle. Pours a rich amber color. Alittle lighter then I’d expect. Not much complexity. Mildy bready and yeasty. Very easy drinking session type beer

Aroma is slightly sweet and malty. You definitely get the feel of sniffing a bag of crushed grains. The taste is plain and disappointing after such an inviting aroma. It is nice and crisp but does not have much flavor at all. I expect a little more sweet malty flavor out of an amber.

UPDATED: DEC 26, 2011 Hard to detect any flavor. Abita uses pure spring water which is not supportive to capturing flavor from hops, barley, and wheat. I know a former brewer from Abita and they confirm Abita does not use beer stone and they also triple filter the product

Pours a nice typical amber with a small white head. Aroma is sweet malts some yeastyness and frruity notes. Taste is same as aroma. Palate is a medium body with moderate carbonation. Finish is malts with a bit of roastiness, some yeast. Overall flavor and aroma were a bit bland and subdued. There are better lagers.
