COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Abita Amber is a Munich style lager brewed with crystal malt and Perle hops. It has a smooth, malty, slightly caramel flavor and a rich amber color.

The color was good when poured into a glass, but the flavor is watered down. I was disappointed in this offering from Abita having had many of their other brews.

This was very bad...after i ordered it the at the Hard Rock in New Orleans informed me that this was her least favorite Abita. I’ve got to agree. She directed me to a bar down the street with all sorts of good beer, so I appreciate that. This isn’t much of anything though....a hint of caramel, bad water, and not much else.

better out of the tap than the bottle. not too overwhleming or heavy. relatively light for an amber. not bad by any stretch of the imagination, and refreshing on a hot and humid new orleans day.

Bottle, light sweetnotes, on the nose, but not much carmel. A light copper color, but not amber. Wow pretty lacking, I really like this style and this falls quite short in my opinion. If you want to be a semi macro, at least check out Bob’s 47. Watery, very watery for the style. Not much at all going on. Not terrible by anymeans but quite boring.

The color was a watery, yellow/orange. The head was fizzy and white. The aroma was citrisy with some floral hop. Tje flavor was citrisy yet a little bland. The palate was thin and the finish was abrupt.

Draft - Light amber / copper color with not much of a head. I was expecting more from this beer - being from Louisiana, I’d like to support the home state breweries. However, there was something lacking in the taste and was not as good as I was told. But a good po-boy will make any beer seem better.

UPDATED: FEB 3, 2008 Decent beer for the money, tastes fairly good. Light mild hoppiness. Very drinkable beer. Wouldn’t buy again

Like the Golden, the 12-oz. bottle of Amber poured true to its color, with a thick off-white head that effervesced and lasted quite a while, lacing the glass. Initial faint aroma promised sweet malt followed by bitter hoppiness. Also like the Golden, the taste was disappointing. The initial malty sweetness is overwhelmed by a strong and long-lasting bitterness, with an almost skunky aftertaste. Also, I found the consistency watery and thin.
