jefcon (997), Arlington, Virginia, USA Jul 26, 2005 Not bad-looking in the glass. Pours with an inch of off-white head, which diminishes rapidly. Clear and amber in color. Aromas are, yes, light and bready. The malts show through a bit on the aroma and the taste. There is no real hop bite to the beer and little complexity. Lots of water. Very drinkable stuff, however. A nice summer companion. GonZoBeeR (2156), ste-Eulalie, Quebec, Canada Jul 21, 2005 Aroma:light bread aroma..
Appearance:hazy amber,very light head...
Flavor:light nutty, light malt and watery.... noelcb (271), Toledo, Ohio, USA Jul 18, 2005 Nice brassy amber color, slightly hazy with a few floaters. Short-lived head with just a bit of lace. Distinctively lagerish. Aromas of malt and grain, with deep notes of fruit esthers. Nice sweet malty taste, slightly fruity and astringent, no herbalness but a good hops finish. Moutfeel was appropriate to the style, not watery or thick, with just enough carbonation to make it refreshing. Would be a good everyday drinker. donrajin (233), Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, USA Jul 14, 2005 This was a nice beer. It had a nice maltiness to it. I had one in Texas and it was quite good. I have noticed that people rating this beer rates lower the further you get from Louisiana. Purhaps mine was fresher as is others closer to its home. gsmitty80 (630), Washington DC, USA Jul 9, 2005 The beer doesnt look that bad comming out of the bottle but the taste is nothing great. Very watery with a small amount of sweet malt taste. Not a very good beer. NYHarvey (2154), New York, New York, USA Jun 30, 2005 I had this at Fritz’s in Nawlin’s. Being close to the source didn’t help it any. Bubbly and what flavor it has is offensive..grainy sawdusty flavors. I could drink it, but I like Dixie’s brew a lot better. ClarkVV (3578), Allston, Massachusetts, USA Jun 22, 2005 2005 bottle consumed 6/16/2005. Pale, light beige/light amber, bubbly light beige head, that is initially medium-sized but fizzles away to nothing quickly. No lacing, clear body. Smells of minerals, dry toast, light nuttiness, some earthy-soiliness, not quite dirty or unclean. Maybe some cat urine though. Flavor of toast, dry grains, seltzer water flavor and consistency. Medium-light to light body. Just very watery overall. They say on the lable, Brewed and Bottled with Pure Spring Water. I know they brew this with spring water, and I can’t help wondering if they also add spring water while bottling. Notes of white flour linger on the finish, light acidity/astringency is apaprent. biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA Jun 14, 2005 Clear amber, moderate tan head. Sour caramel aroma. Tart toffee flavor. Having had six Abita beers in tha last couple days, the thing that impresses me the most from them is how clean they are. None knock yer socks off but the overall quality seems above average. This particular beer doesn’t really stand up as a Vienna but ranks with the mass of Ambers out there.
