bottle. pours a dark brownish gold. aroma is predominantly malty. sweet caramel flavor that evened out a spicy boudin stuffed pork loin i had with this. the hops in this are very mellow and gard to detect, not a bad beer for some situations.

Bottle - nice caramel sweetness in the aroma. Appearance is more gold than amber. A small, quickly dissipating head sits atop. Fairly nice flavor - typical sweetness, touch of bitterness to finish. Very fizzy mouthfeel. Not too bad.

(draft) During lunch in Cincinnatti today I looked over the sparse beer selection and chose to try Abita Amber since I’d never had it before. I chose poorly. Water with beer-flavoring added. The tap water taste overpowered the beer taste. Very unsatisfactory.

One of the beers styles I like very much. Looks rich. Dark amber with nice head out of bottle. For me, this style’s Watermark is Capital Wisconsin Amber. This is very nice but not as full bodied. Good hops, malts and undertones but does not have Capitals gravity. Solid beer. A good effort.

Beer pours amber in color with a minimilistic off white head. Aroma is suprisingly roasted malty for the style. Flavor is roasty/grainy and a bit thin an undeveloped. Nonetheless this is decent beer.

Draft:
Amber body with a big tan head.. loads of lacing on the glass!
The aroma was mostly malty and fill of grains. The flavor brought a sweet beginning and a slight tartness to the finish. This was a strange on though, there was this constant presents of oats and rye. Medium palate, a tangy finish… not bad on draft!

This beer reminds me of it’s near cousin, nay, it’s twin, Corky’s Ale Memphis Brew. I find them quite similar, except that the palate is less creamy, the aftertaste is less smoky, and the flavor tends to wear on a bit. This one is much more available than the Corky’s brew, so check it out. However, there are a lot better lagers out there...strange how a "lager" can taste so much like an "ale" from the same brewer....I wonder...

Really pretty straightforward. There’s not much here. Pretty carbonated, but the head doesn’t last long. Kind of malty and all and yet not in the same way as say, Colt 45. There’s not much taste and it seems kind of watered down.
