24 Nov 2009, bottle. light amber colour. smells like an amber ale. oranges and malt. actually good for an amber (which i’m not normally a fan of). not as caramely as they tend to be.

Nice dark amber color with a small head. Not much lacing present. Clean aroma, I am not getting much out of it. Taste is fairly bland. It does not tend one way or the other. Finishes clean

Bottle. Has a slight malty aroma, not too strong though. Tastes slightly hoppy, overall a sweet beer. A little bit of caramel, overall though this beer is pretty bland. I happen to like it quite a bit though, but drinking this bottle right now is wholly underwhelming. Might have more to do with the food I’m pairing it with. Actually for all I know this is an old bottle, was the last one left on the shelf in my local store’s "build your own variety 6-pack" area. But this is seeming incredibly flavorless and bland. Very watery. I’ll try to re-rate this, maybe next time I’m in LA and can go to the brewery itself! 5% alcohol.

On tap at The Carousel bar in NOLA. Amber color with thin off white head. Light malty nose. Caramel sweetness, some bready malts and some raw grain astringency. Pretty generic beer.

It pours clear golden with a tiny white head. Very little aroma. The flavor is of hops, malt and caramel. An OK brew.

12 oz bottle, best before date unmarked. It pours a clear orange with a foamy white head that sticks for a bit and then recedes to some nice lacing. The smell is clean, but it isnt overly exiting. There is some caramel, some fruit, and a touch of hops. The flavor is pretty much that of the style. It is a bit sweet. It has the typical toastiness, nuttiness, and hint of sweetness. It isn’t amazing, but it isn’t average. This is a solid Maerzen style lager, it may not be called an oktoberfest but it does fall in line with the style Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 09-19-2010 06:40:34

Aroma is rich malt. Pours a dark brown. Taste is of darker malts with a slight offset of dryness. Flavor is very mild not unpleasant but unrefined. Kind of boring.

Nothing really special here. It was alright but not a standout. I got it while I was waiting for my family to get to the cajun restaurant we were eating at. To be honest it didn’t taste much different than a Killians, though I like Killians better.
