UPDATED: FEB 2, 2015 I think this was a beer of the month club selection. Decent lager, nothing too exciting but would choose it over some of its paler cousins. Serving: Bottle

12 oz bottle from the sampler case. Not that good, pretty much run-of-the-mill kind of stuff. Disappointed overall.

Draught @ Malt and Mold. Clear amber with small frothy beige head, faint caramel aroma, lightly bitter caramel taste, medium carbonation, thin body, abrupt finish. Decent, not great.

Doesn't have a smooth finish. 4.5%. Igor brought over. I haven't anything yet from Abita that was any good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Abita Amber 4.5% tap at First Draft for the State tick. Pouring more copper gold than Amber with a malty honey biscuit nose that may contain hints of diacetyl. Decent malt forward Amber type flavor but also has a salty sweet edge to it which is odd but overall ok.

Burnt Amber flavors. Malty. Sweet and very basic beer like. Can't say it is remotely what I want out of a beer. Carmel notes thin. Pass ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draught at Bisbano’s Pizza, Lafayette, LA. Clear dark amber with a white head. Faint malty aroma, a little buttermilk and sweet taste . light body, somewhat nutty, sweet finish. Quaffable.

Drank this back to back with Yuengling...I think this one lost. Light amber color, some aroma of caramel. Taste is mainly malt and caramel, but in a way that’s not memorable. Drinkable, but, again, not memorable.

4.5%ABV. Amber Lager/Viena. Tapped out deep amber. 18şSRM. Nose is beery with an hint of phenol. Some nutty sweetness in the nose. As an homage to local flavors...glazed pecans. Mouthfeel is watery. Palate has deeply toasted malty flavors with nice nutty character of honey almonds, glazed pecans, and with an homage again to the sweetness of the palate with little or nothing to do with nuts, circus peanuts! The palate has a nice ale-like palate that has a very subtle funk to it with some nice nutty, slightly lactic, old wood flavors. All this on the back of strong and well-represented Amber or brown ale flavors. No hops. Overall, a full bodied amber or brown ale experience with a full-bodied malt experience if lacking in overall character. Well-provisioned and although I’m not partial to ambers will give this one a place on the list just because I can and likely because of flavor more than anything else. Goes on Favorites List!
