Nice copper hue with large head and good lacing. Malty aroma with hints of grain, nuts, lemongrass, grape, and honey. While taste was a bit thin, it was well balanced and smooth, clean finish with just a bit a bitterness and tartness. Thin to medium-bodied. Dry and lively mouthfeel, slighty metallic feel. Not too bad, quaffable, the best of Abita standard brews.

UPDATED: JUL 6, 2007 Bottle. Slight sweet malt aroma. Copper color with small head. Very light flavor - caramel malt. I don’t know what happened to Abita - seemed to be a lot better 15 years ago. Seems much weaker now.

Oxidized copper color with a thick, yet fading head. Mild caramel malt aroma with the same flavors. A touch thin in body. An average vienna.

Medium Amber color, medium head. A medium bodied amber ale. Malty and slightly hoppy. Nice flavor. Good taste. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean. Aftertaste is malty and slightly bitter..

Clear yellow to copper color. Doesn’t seem even close to amber in color. Thin head. Weak aroma. I smell almost nothing. I taste some really nice hop bitterness that pushes it out of style a bit. There is some caramel flavor notes that are a little less sweet than I’d expect. Nice light beer that kind of misses the Amber Lager style. Really could use more body.

Bottle (12oz). Poured slightly hazy orange-amber, decent fizzy off-white diminishing head. Pretty nasy aroma of vegetal sour malt with a hint of chocolate. Taste is not bad - nutty grain, some light vaguely roasty malt, brackish finish. Mouthfeel is dry and watery. Not recommended.

One of the 12-oz bottles sampled from the Abita Party Pack, acquired from Cellar’s Wine & Spirits in St Paul, MN. Pours a clear light amber brew with a fast dissolving off-white head that leaves behind a thin white ring and no lacing. Aroma of light caramel malt, some grassy and citrus hops and a touch of toffee. Taste is light bodied, well-carbonated with some caramel malt and citrus hop flavors. Finish is a little thin and watery with a light caramel and metallic aftertaste.

Copper colored with a rather thick head. Faint malt aroma. The flavor was unfortunately rather bland and there is no risk of it offending anyone. I like to be challenged a tad more by a beer that touts being a micro-brew on their label.

UPDATED: NOV 29, 2004 Nice sized white head. Very smooth with some bread and malt taste. However, as hopscotch said, thin and somewhat bland. Overall, a decent beer for drinking quickly. Better than most macros. Has notes of wheat bread in the aorma. Nice light taste with bread and metallic notes. Not a bad session brew.
