3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 stephenj007 (79) - Houston, Texas, USA - JUL 2, 2010
Bottle pour, slight haze, deep amber color, puffy off-white head. Aromas of sweet caramel, cinnamon, allspice, light roast malts. Very mild malts and hops tastes, mostly sweet, but a well balanced hops finish that allows all the flavors to stand out. A very well blended brew, satisfying, great taste, very drinkable. Something I will certainly enjoy more of this summer and fall.

I do enjoy this beer. For me it has a complex taste. I enjoy the munich malt aroma, it brings an inviting bread like quality. The appearance is a nice amber color and the carbonation was sufficient. There is a nice toasty finish to this brew reminding me of a true dunkel.

I am front Louisiana and this beer is our favorite craft beer. It is local and great for what it is. This is basically a session beer. Its biggest fault is that it is slightly watery mouthfeel, but it is perfect to wash down a few pounds of crawfish.

12 oz bottle, best before date unmarked.
It pours a clear orange with a foamy white head that sticks for a bit and then recedes to some nice lacing.
The smell is clean, but it isnt overly exiting. There is some caramel, some fruit, and a touch of hops.
The flavor is pretty much that of the style. It is a bit sweet. It has the typical toastiness, nuttiness, and hint of sweetness. It isn’t amazing, but it isn’t average.
This is a solid Maerzen style lager, it may not be called an oktoberfest but it does fall in line with the style

Pours amber with thick beige head and foamy lacing. Notes of caramel with a hint of pine. Well balanced taste with a short finish. Definitely sessionable.

20081228 12oz bottle from RB Spirits. Amber color with medium off-white head that lasts and sheets lace. Nice looking stuff. Aroma is lightly toasty, lots of barley notes, caramel. Very mild flavor, maybe a bit bland, not unlike the other Abita stuff from this variety 12-pack. Finishes clean, not much hops, mostly smooth, mildly sweet, and without any off flavors. A decent example of a generally uninteresting style.

Had this in a bottle and it tasted really buttery; enough so that it was tough to finish. Had it later the same day on tap, this was much milder. The basic flavor was the same, just less overwhelming, more balanced.

A bit watery, but a tasty light flavor. Probably my least favorite Abita brew.
