1.6 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Skunky, funky and downright junky. Tastes a bit bitter and cloying. Color was a light amber. Smells like the papermills of Savannah.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz. bottle from Liquor Barn (Middletown Commons). Aroma: Lean caramel, brown sugar, light bready spice. Appearance: Pours a rich copper with average carbonation holding up a foamy bone head; the head settles into a patchy skin. Flavor: Malts up front are subtle; a little caramelized bready malt sweetness comes in midway through; the finish has a notable spicy hop character. Palate: Medium body, sticky texture, average carbonation, bitter finish. Overall: Like Abita Bock, it’s a sort of poor man’s take on the style, but it’s also somewhat charming as a result. Would drink again if offered.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Caramel amber pour with a slight white head. Airport bar, so it was a fucking frozen glass, which might be a good thing. Malty nose. A bit of cracker, malty, a tiny bit of earthy hops hidden in there. Tastes like it may have been cold filtered.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
I had it from the bottle. It was sweet with a caramel and malt taste. I like an amber to be a little more balanced with hops. This wasn’t bad. It was very ordinary. It makes for an okay session beer and probably pairs well with pub food.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Twelve ounce bottle from Abita variety 12 pack purchased at Jeff’s Marathon, tasted on April 3, 2015. Amber color with fine clarity, nice malty nose with some sugar notes, sweet malty flavor with some unpleasant chemical character in the backround, taste mellowed as my glass warmed. This beer seemed better on draft when I had it at Abita’s brewpub and in New Orleans back in the 90’s, and The Big Easy and vicinity is probably still the best place to drink it. Come to think of it, most things taste better down there...

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Orange amber pour from a 12 oz bottle. Kind of a damp hay aroma with a malty taste that has a touch of sweetness. Faint herbaceous bitterness that fades fast.
Medium body, fairly creamy feel with robust carbonation. Good example of the style. Good with gumbo...I can personally attest.
