A creature of the swamp, Andygator is a unique high gravity brew made with 2-row pale malt, German lager yeast, and Liberty hops. Unlike other high gravity brews, Andygator is fermented to a dry finish.

Clear and yellow, good frothy head. Aroma is grassy and slightly flowery. Taste is a good amount of bready malt with just enough hops to keep it from being too soft - and there’s plenty of carbonation in there. Finish is a slight caramel malt. The look of this beer is deceiving. The taste and feel is deceiving too - I would have never guessed 8% alcohol - it’s only in the prolonged finish you can tell it’s there. It’s quite unique (to me) and it’s quite good.

beerbill (2848) - Laurel, New York, USA - NOV 7, 2010
22 oz. bottle courtesy of a trade with AttitudeBrew. Pours a slightly hazed gold with a moderate white head that fades to a soapy looking film after the second or third sip and leaves partial lace. The aroma is light malt and not much else. The flavor is malt, leaning a bit to the sweet side, with a bit of staleness towards the finish. Medium bodied. So so.

Golden in color. A bit caramel and butterscotch. Flavor is overly sweet. Faint medicinal and wintergreen flavor. Little carbonation. Medium mouthfeel and alcohol finish.

22 oz bottle. Clear golden pour with a one finger white head. Not much in the way of lace. Aroma is a mix of semi sweet malt and earth scents. Thin palate with relatively low carbonation making it an easy to drink beer. Sweet malty, bread like flavor with a hint of nuttiness. It is a bit on the bland side. Nothing to get excited about.

650 ml. bottle. Pours an initially thick, lasting, white head, over a clear gold (SRM 5) body.....nose is light fruits (peach, apricot), perhaps a bit of corn....taste is light malts, with a bit of light fruit, finishing with a lingering bitterness...mouth feel is light, carbonation high. This is an utterly nondescript beer. It could fit into any of a number of styles including Strong Lager, Malt Liquor, as well as calling it a Heller Bock. The malt is too hidden for it to meet the style. BJCP 5/3/10/4/5

650 ml bottle, that poured initially as a yellow orange with a thick head. Hints of yeast, hops. Medium carbonation and decent head with a nice smooth drink ability. Medium mouth feel with very little aftertaste. Clean finish with no strong alcohol taste. Might have it again to seen if it repeats better then initial taste.

Pours a two finger light cream head that fades slowly to a thin layer leaving some lace. Crystal clear light amber/yellow color. Medium carbonation and medium bodied. Light grassy nose. Flavor is malty sweet, hints of grass. $3.99 for a 22oz bottle from Beverage Warehouse Winooski, VT. Best by May 2011.

1 pt. 6 oz. bottle: Pours bright golden yellow with a fluffy/foamy white head that leaves some lacing. The smell is of sweet grain, somewhat nutty with lemongrass. The taste is of sweet grainy, slightly nutty with a hint of yellow apples, honey, and spices. It has a thickish, syrupy medium body. Medium to high carbonation saves this brew from sickly sweetness. I appreciate experimentation with imperial styles, but this one just doesn’t work that well for me. I don’t think the beer is poorly conceived. But I don’t think that it really works as a style. Nice try but just not my cup of tea.
