Dark gold colored body with a bright white and fluffy head. Lots of small fast moving carbonating bubbles. The nose was sweet with raw bread dough and some pears. There was also a little bit of leather and some roasted peanuts. The taste was strong with sweet potatoes and a little hint of ginger. There was also some roasted peanut shells and metal, especially in the finish. The mouthfeel was sharp with lots of carbonation. A decent brew that tasted almost like a malt liquor with less corny sweetness. Decent.

Amber pour with nice white lingering head. It was a bit sweet for my taste. Nice medium body with good carbonation. Not a bad beer, but unlikely I’ll buy again.

A big bottle pour, nice amber, yellow color, with just a bit of haze. Frothy, white head, quickly dissipates. Mild aromas of some sweet apple, cereal grains and lightly roast malts. Light carbonation. Very pleasing flavors, nothing overpowering, almost a mix of simple sweetness and a tinge of bitter on the finish. A nicely balanced brew, good body, and satisfying palate....leaves me ready to pour more in my glass.
I am confused by the poor ratings, maybe some people aren’t ready to admit that a really good beer can come from the deep south coast.
I really like this brew!

Hmmm. This beer tastes just like the Abita Abbey Ale except worse. Disappointing high gravity beer from Abita. Oh well, whats new.

Golden pour with an initially huge frothy head that diminishes to a nice ring that leaves spotty lace. Cereal notes accompany some bready malts to the nose. This is a shot away from a malt liquor, honestly. Not that I hate it, I just get a hollow mouthfeel with a corn forefront and an alcohol-hued ending. In between, there is a primary cereal and corn aspect, with a decently hopped finish (it’s saving grace). The palate just throws it a bit out of whack from a "linear" sense. It doesn’t reach from point A to point B quite cohesively. There’s a hint of cheapness to the overall aspect, which will make me shy away from it again. Goes down ok, if you don’t mind towing the line of being cloying.

This is actually a pretty decent brew. Think the rating is a bit unfair. Drinks nicely. Crisp, flavorful and a real nice drink.

(bottle - 22 oz) Clear amber pour with a fizzy white head. Aroma is very sweet and malty. Some dry hops present, but mainly sweetness. Flavor is sweet at the start, almost too sweet, with a very uneven balance from the hops. Not bad, but just a bit too sweet for my taste.

On tap at Beerfest in New Orleans. Brownish gold pour, strong malt smell. Flavor was more malt, booze and sugar. Didn’t really care for this one.
