COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Abita Andygator®, a creature of the swamp, is a unique, high-gravity brew made with pale malt, German lager yeast, and German Perle hops. Unlike other high-gravity brews, Andygator® is fermented to a dry finish with a slightly sweet flavor and subtle fruit aroma. Reaching an alcohol strength of 8% by volume, it is a Helles Doppelbock.

Yellow color with a small haze. Yeasty and kind of sweet, med hops. Could taste the alcohol at the finish.

I had this one in New Orleans. It’s crisp, light and sweet. I thought it was very undermalted for for a Doppelbock.

Was hesitant on getting this since all other Abita brews was a major let down but it was a single bottle on sale. Dark gold, small and fast dying head, malty aroma with hints of alcohol. Taste was caramel, sweet, slight alcohol, little bit of hop bitterness, overall not too bad. Not the best brew but the best one I have had from Abita. Didn’t have that muddy water taste so many of their brews have or maybe the extra malts and hops helped to mask it.

From NOTES. A: Bready, yeasty, caramel, floral, slight apple and possibly citrus A: Straw colored, little head that dissipates quickly, very little lacing T: sweet and malty with a strong caramel presence. Some spice and cherry skins P: Light body, light carbonation O: Though it is a Helles Doppelbock the beer seems not to have the signature qualities of either style varieties and becomes sort of lost in its mix. The flavors are not too complex which make it too drinkable for an 8% A.B.V.

Bit hazy golden color. Lots and lots of malt. Malty party. Aroma and taste. Also lots of sweetness. Finish is extremely long and again extremely sweet. Medium body, soft carbonation. Interesting stuff, not too great and not for everyone. //stellabeershop

355 ml bottle. Pours a clear golden with an average, short lived, off-white head that laces. Sweet malty aroma with fruit and grain. Sweet, bready malt flavour with caramel, grain and a hint of alcohol in a lightly bitter, dry finish. Medium body with a watery texture and soft carbonation. Not bad, but nothing special.

Bottled 355ml. -from Pivoteka Zagreb. Darker golden coloured, medium sized white to off-white head, alcohol in the nose. Sweet malty, caramel, alcohol, notes of fruity hoppy and rather strong grainy touch in the finish. Expected more.

Thanks Franski for sharing this with us! Poured a full golden body with a small white head. Sweet, slightly malty taste, a bit grainy, some glue, very light banana milkshake notes. hm. Copypaste that into the taste, only with more alcohol, thin and slightly dryish. Could pass as a random, just slightly above average macro strong lager.
