Bottle 650 ml (apparently this is my # 1000 lager I rated)
Aroma: sweet honey blend with floral notes, mineral fell to it. Clean and proper.7+
Appearance: Clear golden look with plus sized proper white top. Nice and bright. Sadly top did not lasted too long.
Palate / Taste: Medium plus bodied. Clean character, some alcohol warmth is present. Sweet proper malt with good heft. Not too heavy or cloying. Proper drinkable Helles Bock.

Cornfield (5277) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - MAR 1, 2009
Bomber from Sam’s in Downers Grove, IL: It has a rich gold body with a lofty head that leaves plenty of lacework. It has a sweet malty aroma along with apples, creamed corn, and an odd milky scent. The corn and milk aren’t in the flavor and there’s some grassy bitterness to offset he sweetness. Not bad tasting, but the aroma hurts the overall experience.

22 ounce bottle from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a clear gold color with a huge head. Decent head retention and nice lacing. Odd aroma is full of corn like adjunct notes and grain. Taste is grain, sweet malts and grassy hops. Full bodied. This is an odd beast.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly lasting. Body is medium yellow. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain, husks), lightly hoppy (flowers), with notes of cotton candy, marshmallows, DMS. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately bitter, slightly husky, slightly unclean. Medium body, watery/oily texture, lively carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic. Ugh. Smells like a cream soda mixed with a swill lager. Drain pour.

Dickinsonbeer (5076) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - MAY 22, 2009
Bomber. Pours a slight chill hazy deep golden- light copper- um- way too light for a doppelbock- foamy white head and some lace- strange look. Aroma is instant baby diaper, cream of wheat, DMS all over the place- cooked cabbage, and a shot of artificial saccharin like sweetness- almost like I am about to taste a sweet tart. Flavor si not quite as bad (at first)- artificial -like sweetness - dough, crackers, some toasted bread, but in a bad way- syrupy sweet- lyles golden syrup, definitely get the sweet-tart character but in the flavor it changes a bit to be more like smarties candies. Grassy and herbal hops- no real solid malt character and there is some more DMS as it warms with a tacky and astringent finish. Ugh- this is a pretty big mess and isn’t even close to a doppelbock or any real good lager for that matter. Ugh.

Light amber color with an off white head. Warm malt aroma with a hint of hops and alcohol. Near chewy and lightly oily. Sweet fruit and malt flavors dominate. Warming dry malt finish.

Sampled on 5/7/2009. This dopplebock pours a medium orange gold color from a 22oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is cereal, malt, slightly fruity. A medium bodied dopplebock. The malts are fruity and sweet, with a touch of caramel. The hops are earthy. A little sweet tasting and it gets sweeter as it warms. Decent carbonation. It needs more of a malt backbone. There was a very weird and somewhat unpleasant aftertaste in this beer that went away after the first couple of sips. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is sweet.

Hey, another Abita gem(?) courtesy of kiefdog. Pours deep gold with thin white head. It has a pretty full aroma with sweet malts and moving to grains, sugar, some honey and apples. The taste is similar beginning with a thick sweet mouthfeel and giving up sugar, malts, grains and honey. The honey note peaks about midway to briefly take control of the flavor. It ends pretty smooth with lingering grains and sweetness.

Bottle. Golden beer with a cream colored head. Sweet malt aroma with light spice. Sweet malt flavor with light orange citrus and light spice. Medium bodied. Easy drinking. Sweet malt lingers with light orange.
