(#43) 22oz bottle poured into a tulip glass. Appearance: Hazy golden yellow with minimal head that retains some bubbles. Aroma: Sweet. Pineapple, oranges, lemon, honey, banana maybe some light grape. Taste: Sweet up front. Honey, cereal, more citrus fruits, oatmeal. Has a somewhat tangy wave of flavor through the middle. Bitter aftertaste that isn’t bad, but isn’t good either. Palate: Med bodied. Good amoutnt of carbonation. It’s smooth but not fond of that lingering aftertaste. Overall: It’s alright. I most likely won’t buy it again, but nice to have tried it.

This beer makes me feel special. I love the tight bubbles that are constantly flowing upwards. This beer kind of reminds me of a rich man’s Budweiser. It has a beautiful golden color with a creamy, fluffy, surprisingly lasting head. The taste is of honey and corn. It’s very drinkable and very smooth. I don’t get the low rating here. I think it may have something to do with the fact that when people try this, they are expecting a dopple bock. It’s not. It’s a very, very good pilsner. I’m glad I finally tried it after seeing it on the shelf for so long. Oh, and by the way, the 8% alcohol is VERY well hidden. Be careful!

Bottle from Roundballref... light golden color with with a touch of cloudiness. Nice solid head. Slightly sweet flavor with hints of fruit and some bread. Very easy to drink, and was not aware of the 8% ABV. No outstanding flavor characteristics, but enjoyable and smooth.

A- hazy gold with a think white head and so so lacing. S- sweet notes, a bit of burn sugar, bread, and a bit of spice. T- The spicy and pepper works well with the toast and sweetness of the grain. Its nice and balanced but could be a littler sharper and cleaner tasting/finish. M- Abita does a good job of masking the ABV within the body. This one isn’t warm at all. Just a touch thicker than I like for this style but all in all it comes together nicely. D- Considering the high abv, this one is pretty damn drinkable. Its a bit on the thicker side but not overbearing. Serving type: bottle

Great on the palate, love the high alcohol content. Sweet taste and goes down very smooth.

Bottle from Frugal Mac’s. Poured a light yellow with a light head. Phoooo... Probably the worst smelling beer I’ve ever come across. Thankfully, the taste was different. It was definitely drinkable, but nothing memorable. If you’re an Abita fan, check it out, but plug your nose first.

Pretty good. I enjoyed it and it suited my taste. It was recommended by a friend and I am glad I chose it.

UPDATED: APR 25, 2012 Gold color and lasting white head. Aroma with an off fruity almost vegetable smell. Not really a dopplebock but closer to a maibock. Not my favorite.

Weak for a Doppelbock, too sweet in the finish. More wine-like than dopplebock.

650 ml bottle, that poured initially as a yellow orange with a thick head. Hints of yeast, hops. Medium carbonation and decent head with a nice smooth drink ability. Medium mouth feel with very little aftertaste. Clean finish with no strong alcohol taste. Might have it again to seen if it repeats better then initial taste.
