Draft at Mango’s in Sandestin, FL. Golden color in the glass with a thin white head. The aroma was somewhat wheaty with some hints of grass and lemon. The flavor had a mix of lemon and malts. Light bitterness throughout. Medium body with a creamy texture. A ok beer but I’m not sure it’s a doppelbock.

"The flavor is very rich and malty, with toasty flavors and noticeable alcoholic strength. Most versions are fairly sweet, due to little or no hop flavor. Paler versions may have a drier finish."
It has malt flavor, it is just drier than most doppelbock beers you know. Most doppelbocks end with "ator". I really like how abita makes the beer uniquely Louisiana by naming it gator. Great beer.

Jul 15, 2008 The waitress at the restaurant on Bourbon St. told me this was like corona. Ok, it really didn’t have much of a taste, or a too thick of a mouthfeel, but it wasn’t that bad. Though, it wasn’t good either. I couldn’t detect the alcohol. I’m really surprised this is a doppelbock. I fact, I just thought it was a pale lager of some sort.

Jun 28, 2008 The bar I drank this at in Scranton PA - told me it was a 6.2% barley wine. I told them it was the weakest one on the planet. Nevertheless, its a decent brew. Smooth and easy drinking.

Jun 13, 2008 On draft at Acme Oyster House in New Orleans. Good IPA style brew. I would not consider this a doppelbock--it’s simply not malty. Very good though.
