A creature of the swamp, Andygator is a unique high gravity brew made with 2-row pale malt, German lager yeast, and Liberty hops. Unlike other high gravity brews, Andygator is fermented to a dry finish.

It is a better beer than the rating. Has some signs of doppelbock, it is strong, thick, malty, but it is has a quick to end bitterness that makes it very easy to drink. Reminds me of a good hell, only maltier and much more alcaholic. Unique.

Pours a two finger light cream head that fades slowly to a thin layer leaving some lace. Crystal clear light amber/yellow color. Medium carbonation and medium bodied. Light grassy nose. Flavor is malty sweet, hints of grass. $3.99 for a 22oz bottle from Beverage Warehouse Winooski, VT. Best by May 2011.

looks like a great pils with something extra; however, it is just a sweet and basic lager-like brew maybe like a creamy double PBR? :o) if not to style (I didn’t rate to style), then this is a lot better than what it advertises to be... c’mon folks.

Sampled on draft at D’s in Monroeville PA this beer poured a dark golden color with a medium sized soapy white head. The aroma was sweet, tangy, grape and pear. The flavor was tangy and sweet with notes of candied pear and table sugar. The finish was long, tangy and sweet. Full body. Simple but quite tasty.

Comes out of the tap a nice clear amber with a decent white head. Aroma is mainly malty with a strong hoppy undertone and a sharp hint of apple, like hard cider. Flavor is malty and ciderish with a strong but not overwhelming alcohol nip and just a touch of honey sweetness. Mouthfeel is smooth, and it fairly dances on the way down.

22oz bottle, my first Abita 22. Way more of a Heller-Bock appearance than a Doppelbock, as the bottle (Helles Doppelbock) would indicate I suppose. Highly filtered golden orange color with little head but plenty of carbonation bubbles. Mild sweet bocky aroma. Pretty decent mouthfeel, not far from the real thing. Sweet with the unique bocky yeast/malt lagered taste. Some hop crispness which quickly fades into malty sweetness. Pretty good, certainly better than most Abita beers

Cleaner and drier than most Dopplebocks. None of the "malt liquor" quality that some dopplebocks (unfortuneately) exhibit. It’s high alcohol content is very subtle from a taste standpoint. This one tastes like a good but fairly generic pale ale, rather than a slap-ya-mama brew. It could sneak up on the unsuspecting. Also, I’m almost completely sure the heading on this page is wrong. According to people I’ve talked to at the Abita brewery, this one actually runs 10 - 10.5% alcohol, not 8.

Bomber. Also at the Red Fish...I know, I was drinking a lot there. A clear golden with small white head. Aroma is sweet fruity buttery goodness...best smelling Abita! Pretty light bodied with a flavor of sweet fruits and again a buttery and spicy malt excellence. A big bad brew that compliments my PO boy I now am eating.

Is this the same beer that others have rated so low? 22 oz bottle pours a golden yellow color with a white head. Aroma is honey, sweet, malt, hop, and grass. Flavor is malts, bitter hop flavor. The alcohol is masked quite well.

Hey, another Abita gem(?) courtesy of kiefdog. Pours deep gold with thin white head. It has a pretty full aroma with sweet malts and moving to grains, sugar, some honey and apples. The taste is similar beginning with a thick sweet mouthfeel and giving up sugar, malts, grains and honey. The honey note peaks about midway to briefly take control of the flavor. It ends pretty smooth with lingering grains and sweetness.
