Couldn’t get into this one at all. Just seemed like a clash between the strange aroma and the lack of imagination and flavor. The beer pours out a clear light amber/colden color with 1" white head. Aroma is old cereal and corn with a strange...milkyness to it. Flavor is dominated by overly-sweet malts, alcohol and a mildewy grassy note. Reminds me in many ways of some kind of European malt liquor.

In short: A gross mega-sweet sticky fruit and floral juice with bubbles. Bad.
How: Bottle 22oz. . Consumed fresh soon after purchase. Tasting session with Montreal crew
The look: Partly cloudy blonde body topped by a very small white head
In long: Nose is a little floral (scented flowers). Taste is not just bland, it is borderline offensive. Sweet pears, sweetened apple juice, bee wax, strange floral bitterness. Fizzy carbonation, body a little sticky. Wow, that was pretty bad. I hope to never drink this crap again. See you never again Andygetor.

Bottle from the Whole Foods on Lamar. Yellowish orange pour with an impressive white head. The nice looking head quickly turns into something resembling the disgusting foam you see in a polluted creek bed. Pungent, nasty aroma that rushed out of the bottle as soon as I popped the cap. Weak honey, malt, and bread flavors are overpowered by an almost pepper taste. Finish is wet and sticky while the aftertaste lingers unpleasantly.

Pours beautiful golden color with contrasting white head that is very creamy. Nose is faint, but has a macro-malty, lemony boozy quality to it. Palate has a sharp character, alcohol easily noticed right away, modest malt flavor, and nothing much positive for the mind to latch onto.

I saw this when i was at an Italian restaurant in New Orleans so I had to try it since it shares my name. I was not a happy campter. This had a very stingy mouthfeel, very light body, the yeast may be german, but my god this doesn’t taste like a doppel to me at all...at least the ones i’ve had. Its actually pretty similar to an american macro.

Draft at mellow Mushroom. Pours copper with frothy, thin white head. Taste is very sweet with honey and corn flavor. If I had a drain I would dump it down. Terrible.

UPDATED: AUG 20, 2004 A doppelbock? Suuuuuuuure, if you say so... Brownish yellow, no head. Peppery, spicy aroma. Corny, vegetable overly sweet flavor. This should be drunk from a bottle in brown paper bag. C'mon, Abita Andy Gator, embrace your malt liquorness. Quit fooling yourself.

Pours light golden, like urine. No head. Smell is wheat and lager yeast and belgian type yeast too. Taste is sweet and yeasty. Unappealing. Medium body. Did not finish.

Very pale golden beer. Aroma is loaded with fusels and corn. Higher alcohols, pale malts and other sweet nastiness. This is a malt liquor, not a doppelbock. Really terrible.

Bomber. Pale gold and clear. Very small head. Nose is grainy, garbage disposal. Taste is a bit malty and very bitter and astringent. Alcohol is present-unpleasantly so. This just did not sit right on my palate. I had the original Andygator in the smaller bottles years ago-my memory may not serve me well but this seems like a completely different beer. I may try again-or not. Drain pour.
