Abita Andygator®, a creature of the swamp, is a unique, high-gravity brew made with pale malt, German lager yeast, and German Perle hops. Unlike other high-gravity brews, Andygator® is fermented to a dry finish with a slightly sweet flavor and subtle fruit aroma. Reaching an alcohol strength of 8% by volume, it is a Helles Doppelbock.

1 pt. 6 oz. bottle: Pours bright golden yellow with a fluffy/foamy white head that leaves some lacing. The smell is of sweet grain, somewhat nutty with lemongrass. The taste is of sweet grainy, slightly nutty with a hint of yellow apples, honey, and spices. It has a thickish, syrupy medium body. Medium to high carbonation saves this brew from sickly sweetness. I appreciate experimentation with imperial styles, but this one just doesn’t work that well for me. I don’t think the beer is poorly conceived. But I don’t think that it really works as a style. Nice try but just not my cup of tea.

Hefty Helles. Malty, sweet, and little bit chewy. Decent bitevthat helped cut the maltiness. Okay.

De geur is lekker fris. De kleur donkerblond. Weinig schuim als je hem uitschenkt. De smaak redelijk bitter. Maar valt al bij al goed mee.

Very light sweet malt...tastes like grapes good at first but not as good with time...smooth and low carbonation...little too sweet...not beer-like...at Jake?s for clemson Louisville game with Megan and stuart.

Draught @ Catfish. Rich golden yellow with small foamy off-white head, apricot aroma, low carbonation, lightly hopped slightly sweet taste with apricot flavor, thin body, abrupt finish, Interesting but not amazing.

Tap at kingfish in NOLA. Gold with small white head in bumped pint. Gentle grain aroma. Sweet, light grain. Actually pretty good, even if it tastes a little like a really good high life. Refreshing.

12 oz bottle from the sampler case. Nothing special here - just another average Helles Doppelbock with no distinct features.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle a clear yellow-gold with a small white head that laces the glass as it dissipates. Malty aromas, pear, maybe a hint of citrus. Rather light body and slightly sticky with soft carbonation. Alcohol comes through and disrupts what would otherwise be a nice, bitter finish
