2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
1 pt. 6 oz. bottle:
Pours bright golden yellow with a fluffy/foamy white head that leaves some lacing.
The smell is of sweet grain, somewhat nutty with lemongrass.
The taste is of sweet grainy, slightly nutty with a hint of yellow apples, honey, and spices.
It has a thickish, syrupy medium body. Medium to high carbonation saves this brew from sickly sweetness.
I appreciate experimentation with imperial styles, but this one just doesn’t work that well for me. I don’t think the beer is poorly conceived. But I don’t think that it really works as a style. Nice try but just not my cup of tea.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottled 355ml. -from Pivoteka Zagreb. Darker golden coloured, medium sized white to off-white head, alcohol in the nose. Sweet malty, caramel, alcohol, notes of fruity hoppy and rather strong grainy touch in the finish. Expected more.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Thanks Franski for sharing this with us! Poured a full golden body with a small white head. Sweet, slightly malty taste, a bit grainy, some glue, very light banana milkshake notes. hm. Copypaste that into the taste, only with more alcohol, thin and slightly dryish. Could pass as a random, just slightly above average macro strong lager.

A smooth flavor, nothing really stand out for this one. I wouldn't reach for this again.

This is a nice refreshing beer, surprisingly light for 8%abv. Crisp and subtle fruit flavors with a nice clean finish.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz pour from refrigerated bottle into a stemmed tulip glass. Pours hazy, but fairly clear. Huge fluffy white head with moderate retention. Golden. Nose is malt, flowers, and candy. Mouthfeel is moderate. Taste is fairly odd for me. Candy sweetness, a little malt, some honey, biscuit, pineapple, maybe even banana. I’m having some trouble pinning the taste down. No alcohol notes notable, which is surprising for an eight percent pale beer. Well crafted, I’d say, but not my thing.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Appearance: clear deep gold, with a short, fizzy white head that shrank and vanished quickly. Aroma: strong lager nose, with honeyed grains, a bit of floral hops and white bread. Taste: bready and grainy, with a big dose of honey, light pineapple, and shortbread cookies. Finish: lingering floral and slightly herbal hops, but with a sweet, slightly sticky note lasting too. Notes: Never had a ’helles doppelbock’ before. Light like a helles, not as boozy or malty as a true doppelbock. More like one of those crazy Russian strong pale lagers but, you know, GOOD. Bottle from Total Wine & More, Fairfax, Virginia (Pickett Center).
