Nice maibock. 12 oz. bottle to lager glass. Pours copper with white short-lived head, small amount of lacing. Initial impression is fruit and bread. Very nice smooth brew in the mouth. Some bitter on the tongue with a light malt in the finish. Not spectacular, but very drinkable.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 benpickens (283) - Bloomington, Indiana, USA - DEC 24, 2009
Pours with a nice maibock color and a masssive white head. Bready malty smells... a watery round mouthfeel with the flavor held in the center. Decent quaffing beer, but light in flavor for a bock. Refreshing.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 williamherbert (1041) - Syracuse, New York, USA - NOV 8, 2009
Hazy, honey-colored orange. Short-lived head. Color changes to a dark yellow as it thins out. The color looks awfully attractive.
Some nice flowery pale malts in the aroma. Mild German (Hallertau?) hops. A couple citrusy notes but not sure if it’s the hops.
Really nice combo of the dry, flaky pale malts and sweetish puckery citrus. Actually a fine combo; the hops add a sweetness and a tart finish.
The feel is creamy and a tad bubbly. Thicker than expected, but certainly not a choker. It’s a substantial drink with lots of summery, tree-fruit notes. Very very nice.

UPDATED: JAN 23, 2010 Abita (Mardi Gras) Bock is a good beer. It has a fine, fruity aroma, attractive tan appearance, and as for flavor, it has a good, if somewhat overly mild taste. Mouthfeel is light and watery. Overall, this is a pretty good product. Goes well with crackers or seafood.

1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 7/20 kidmartinek (1750) - austin, Texas, USA - JUL 28, 2009
A clear lager, light amber colored bock, with a heavy half head of white foam. The beer smells like farm grain and little bit of skunky hops. It tastes like spice malt and hay. Fizzy texture. A finish thats malty enough to make me want to puke.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Soonah (1120) - Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA - JUL 3, 2009
Pours clear copper with a short, fizzy white head and minimal lacing. The aroma is floral, soapy and slightly boozy. A bit metallic as well. The flavor follows with the overall taste being floral and metallic with some booze on the finish. Thin mouthfeel.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 curly (2193) - Seattle (Newcastle), Washington, USA - JUN 24, 2009
Pours rich amber with very little head and what was there is gone in 30 seconds. Caramel and sweet fruit such as peach, plum and apple is the aroma along with some roast malt. Taste is toasty, malty and pretty sweet but not sticky. The body is pretty good, but overall it’s decent.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 marcus (3763) - Sacramento, California, USA - JUN 23, 2009
This copper ale poured with a fluffy off-whtie head and a toffee aroma. There is a reasonably good caramel malt base and enough hopping to provide a balance of bitterness. It’s pretty ho-hum, but drinkable.
