Bottle from BevMo in Elk Grove, CA. As Abita Mardi Gras Bock. Pours a light orange gold color with a moderate white head. Aromas of noble hop and caramel. Medium body with sharpish carbonation. Flavor is caramel with nobel hop, kind of like an amber pilsner. Ends mildly sweet with supporting bitter. Not bad.

tan amber colored pours a swift forming off white head. aroma is grassy and yeast. caramel grassy flavor and a medium light mouth feel. not the best from Abita.

UPDATED: FEB 15, 2010 Pours an off-white head with a copper-amber body. Smells of yeast, sweet, and barnyard. Flavor is caramel and yeast. Little dry on the finish.

Bottle. Pours clear dark gold with a dense 2 finger off-white head that faded fast but still left spotty lacing. The nose is light caramel malt and grassy hops. Taste is pretty much the same with some nutty flavor mixed in. Lighter mouthfeel. Just like most Abita brews – uninteresting.

Pours amber with a short lived offwhite head. Smell is malty with a slightly tart, fruity, doughy, biscuity zing to it, like heller bocks tend to have, to me anyway. Taste is fairly thin with some of the same almost doughy, sticky fruit flavors, but very lightly so. Fairly watery and slightly sweet. This is a pretty unremarkable beer, but drinkable.

Everything about this brew was generic. Scent of grass and grain, flavor slightly sugary, fairly heavy in the mouth. Nothing to remember...

Pours a clear golden-orange color with a thin, frothy head and high carbonation. Aroma is of noble hops, caramel malt and some slight malt sweetness at the very end of the sniff. Flavor has some noble hopsat the start, slightly skunky taste, but then quickly moves into the British pale malt with its distinct toasted flavor, followed up by the light sweet caramel malt. Beer has a light feeling to it but does carry a smooth, light flavor. Overall the beer is an okay example of this style but nothing extraordinary nor something I would buy on a consistent basis.

Bottle. Pours a clear copper golden with a small frothy off white head that diminshes quickly. Decent spotty lacing on the glass. The aroma is a toasted malt with raisin and wheat grass. The taste is a sweet malt with yeast and raisin. A decent heller bock from Abita.
