2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Skyview (4737) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - DEC 31, 2007
One of the 12-oz bottles sampled from the Abita Party Pack, acquired from Cellar’s Wine & Spirits in St Paul, MN. Pours a clear light amber brew with a thin and fast dissolving off-white head that dissipates to a fine white ring and no lacing. Aroma of light caramel malt and some grassy hops. Taste is light to medium bodied, well-carbonated with some caramel malt and citrus zest. Finish is watery, with a semi-sweet caramel malt aftertaste. One of the lightest bock beers I have tried.
2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 vadavid (131) - Fredericksburg, Virginia, USA - NOV 29, 2007
UPDATED: FEB 2, 2008 Mardis Gras BockPours a orangish gold color. Thick head on the pour that quickly dissipated. The smell is weak with a faint toffee smell. The flavor isn’t bad, but nothing exceptional. A sweet malt flavor up front with faint hop bite at the end. Not a bad bock, just nothing outstanding about it.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 troyc (2014) - Oklahoma, USA - OCT 11, 2007
(Bottle) Pours an amber color with a small white head. Sweet aroma, with a nice malty taste. Some grain in the taste as well. High carbonation, yet decent mouthfeel. Pretty ordinary, nothing really stands out in this beer. I like it better than many of their brews though.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 wshores (58) - Saltillo, Texas, USA - SEP 11, 2007
Abita seems good a brewing down the middle brews. Most are drinkable but none excell in their respective styles.

Abita Mardi Gras Bock
Date: 4/25/2007
Event: Junedale Beer Klub - April Beer Tasting (Maibocks)
Serving: 12 oz bottles shared by __?__.
Tasting Notes
Aroma: Light malts with some vanilla and cream.
Appearance: Clear amber/brown color with a diminishing off-white head. Mild level of carbonation and some lacing is also present.
Flavor: Grainy malts, vanilla/cream, slightly buttery as well.
Palate: Soft, mellow, smooth, and clean.
Overall: Many Abita brews seem to have a similar "grainy" quality to them as well. This beer is drinkable, but seems to be lacking somewhat.

Draft at Abita Brew Pub. Nice dark brown color. Malty smell and taste. Decent head. Can’t really give it’s outstanding characteristics but, just a very good tasting bock.

Very similar overtones to the turbodog. Very malty with a carbonated finish with a small amount of hops. Sometimes this comes across as too sweet, but I like it nonetheless.
