Bitter, borderline putrid, but not enough to be bad. I liked it overall. Definitely has that "Abita taste" to it.

medium off white head. a piss color of someone with high circulating levels of antidiuretic hormone. There is some strange sour/fruity aroma that I can't quite explain, probably because it has the aroma of something thats deadly to inhale. Given the looks of this one, I was surprised by its somewhat full bodied nature. For only 6.13% they did a good job of getting the alcohol to come through in the flavor. It doesn't detract much, but its right there with the hoppy finish. The maltiness is somewhat muted by the alcohol and hops. I give this a "not too bad for looking like a dehydrated person's piss."
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 wilkie (1209) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - MAR 6, 2003
Pale light brown--Bubbly head, with moderate
retention. Malty aroma. Good flavor, but a little
watery. Not quite as crisp as I expected.

Used to be better, has the color and feel of a Maibock, just too carbonated. Also like other Abita beer no head retention at all. I am tired of the way people worship Abita here. It really is not all that good.

A little too sweet for me at first and an unpleasant after taste. Finally came around to like it on the second bottle.

Better than the other two I have had from this brewery, still inferior in my opinion to most. Odd smell , somewhat sour,Not bad afterall though probably not worth a second look.

Good stuff. Well-balanced, a pleasing amount of that indescribable "bockiness," and generally good appearance.

Nice but mostly weak aroma. Good look in the glass, nice white foam. Good clean mouthfeel all the way through the swallow. Nice malty flavor with fruit hints. A good beer.

UPDATED: MAR 31, 2006 Clear and deep golden; weak head leaves only a fine white ring clinging to the glass for dear life. Sugary texture with a fizzy carbonation. Pinch of DMS lingers in the nose. Finishes relatively clean, with a little sweet/sour thing going on. Grainy cereal notes. Almost white-winish in nature. Apple notes linger in the aftertaste; combination of Granny Smith and Golden Delicious. Herbs, light flowers and a nip of grass.
