COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Abita Bock is brewed with Perle hops and British pale and caramel malts. Our Bock is similar to a German Maibock in its high malt content, full body and slightly higher alcohol content. Available January-March.

I poured a 12 oz bottle into a goblet... The beer pours an orange, copper color with a white head that quickly faded to nothing. It has a nice nutty, buttery, toffee aroma. The taste first consists of a light lemon flavor on the back of the tongue, a wave of butter, nuts and caramel washes over and leaves a nice balanced aftertaste. The beer is light with stinging carbonation and a bit of a sticky finish. I thought this was a well done bock, I could definitely drink this again.

For me, this is a maibock that I really appreciate the color of this beer and the reasonable amount of head (for a maibock). The aroma and malt profile have a caramel/almond type taste in my opinion. Good flavor profile...very maibock, but not to the same strength as a Paulaner or Hofbrau. Very drinkable and an excellent session beer, esp. for 6.4% ABV. I really enjoy the water aspect of Abita...it has a unique base that provides a very natural aftertaste to the beer.

Hazy amber. Pretty sweet beer, lots of caramel to it. It’s not a great beer, but it went really well with the gumbo we had for mardi gras.

Draft at The Royale on Mardi Gras. Pours a mostly clear orange-gold color with a small, sticky white head. There just isn’t much going on in the aroma- some Munich malts, grass, and sugar, but everything is so muted. Flavor of sweet and Munich malts, grass, toast, sugar, and a hard-to-place bitterness that comes off as a phenolic booze note. Light-medium bodied, with moderate carbonation and a sweet, mildly bitter mouthfeel. Dull but drinkable.

I thought this was a nice bock beer that didnt taste like it had 6.4%. Very sessionable and light for the style.

Average run of the mill bock; I say this as a drinker that values novelty a little more than I should. Maybe a little more caramel to add flavor? I don’t know. Make this one stand out, please.
