Clear amber with a good amount of carbonation. Malty sweet aroma. Medium mouth feel. The alcohol is more noticeable towards the end. German Maibocks are hard to come over here in Texas.

The aroma is sweet and malty with paper and a bit of fruit. The appearance is gold with a light amber hue and a nice foamy head. The flavor is like the aroma with clean and slightly yeasty finish. The palate is typical for the style. Overall this is alright but nothing that invokes a celebration.

Tap at Cowgirl Seahorse. Pours a light, shiny brown-amber. Medium white head. Nose is sweet, caramel malts. Flavor is malty, with some maple and caramel notes. Also some warming alcohol. Rich malty aftertaste. Pretty good.

12oz. Bottle: Aroma of corn, slight caramel malt, slight hops, and a hint of spice. Poured amber in color with a large, creamy, dense, off-white head that diminished but lasted throughout. Clear. Not sparkling. Very good lacing. Flavor is lightly sweet. Tastes of corn, malt, and a hint of hops. Medium body. Slightly sticky texture. Average carbonation. Corn and caramel malt finish is lightly sweet.

12 ounce bottle - $1.49 Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia (though it wrap up as Abita Christmas [close enough, I suppose]). Best By: 05/16/10
Appearance: Pours a clear, amber-gold body with a frothed, off-white head.
Smell: Pale malts with some light toasty qualities and an iota of light caramel held within. Slight hop spiciness along with a meager background fruitiness.
Taste: Pale malts with distributed tastes of lightly toasted grains and lightly toasted sliced bread. Slight caramel sweetness. Spicy, earthy hops with a good amount of malt-countering bitterness. Just a hint of peppery alcohol tones. Drying finish with bit more spice and, at the tail end, a small hint of honey. The combination of toastiness, honey, and graininess eventually leads me to picture a mouthful of whole-grain Cheerios. Not that that’s a bad thing!
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-plus carbonation.
Drinkability: Typically, I find Abita brews to be lackluster at best, but this lil’ bock isn’t half bad. If a regular dose of Cheerios is heart-healthy, sure Abita Mardi Gras Bock has some health benefits as well.

Pours a copper color with basically no head. Smell is biscuity with a little bit of fruit and hops. Taste follows the aroma a lot of malt. Not much hop presence in the beer. Even though this beer is half a year old, it still tastes pretty good to me. One of the better Abita brews I have tried.
