3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz. bottle. Named Mardi Gras Bock 6.5% ABV. Pours a medium, well retained, tiny bubbled, off white head, with some lacing, over a clear, amber (SRM 10) body......nose is cereal, light malts, light hop spice......taste is light malts, with light sweet fruit tones (apple, pear), finishing with a clean, moderate hop bitterness......mouth feel light of medium, minimally astringent, carbonation adds a foamy tingle. This meets the style of Heller Bock quite well. It is not quite as complex as the very best, but is a good attempt. BJCP 7/3/14/4/7

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Rated as "Mardi Gras Bock".
Great copper in the glass, malty nose. The beer starts smooth, malty with hints of red fruit. The mainpart is malty, easy to drink, slightly dry but still fruity. The aftertaste is medium, malty-dry with hints of bitterness.
A "normal" Bock. Nothing really special…. --> 10/11/9/10

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft at Khyber Pass. Mostly a standard Heller Black. Maybe a bit cleaner and fuller than most. Honey bread. Shimmering toasted wheat notes. Ok.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft to taster. Looks solid; a transparent lighter orangish gold with thin white lacing. Smells of lager yeast and malt with mild notes of caramel. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. Not bad, but forgettable.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours an off orange tan color. The aroma is grain and caramel. The taste is basically a malty pilsner with a sweet caramel note on the finish but, bland overall. Palate is smooth with medium carb. Pretty good. - Might as well have Mardi Gras Bock on Fat Tuesday. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Abita Mardi Gras (supposedly the same beer) is a decent brew from a brewery that has a big reach. Malty aroma coming from copper pour with a fizzy head. Taste is malty with just enough hop notes to balance it somewhat. Body is a little light, but the beer goes well with food. Mardi Gras Bock is definitely a beer to drink during the season or with any food.
