COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Abita Bock is brewed with Perle hops and British pale and caramel malts. Our Bock is similar to a German Maibock in its high malt content, full body and slightly higher alcohol content. Available January-March.

12 oz. bottle. Named Mardi Gras Bock 6.5% ABV. Pours a medium, well retained, tiny bubbled, off white head, with some lacing, over a clear, amber (SRM 10) body......nose is cereal, light malts, light hop spice......taste is light malts, with light sweet fruit tones (apple, pear), finishing with a clean, moderate hop bitterness......mouth feel light of medium, minimally astringent, carbonation adds a foamy tingle. This meets the style of Heller Bock quite well. It is not quite as complex as the very best, but is a good attempt. BJCP 7/3/14/4/7

Bottle purchased as part of a mixed sixer at Kroger Stoneridge. Clear amber pour with a thick beige head. Aroma of malt, sweetness, caramel, lager yeast and light noble hop. Malty flavor with sweet caramel, light fruit and light hop before a sweet finish.

Disappointed. No aroma and a light color with a watery palate. Malty flavor of old bread with a slight hops presence.

Drinking the Abita Christmas Bock. Too hoppy and bitter for my taste. It was a gift so Iím not out money for trying it. Have the remaining bottles to use as marinade for brats.

Copper pour. Nose of candied caramel and light fruit. Light minerals and some diacetyl. Flavor is lager/light adjunct malt with a touch of fruit and caramel. Light bitterness. Not great, but certainly better than a good number of the ratings.

bottle as Mardi Gras Bock - Pours dark gold with a one finger off-white head. It has a light, caramel malt aroma. It tastes of sweet malt with a little caramel and hops bitterness that while still fairly mild, is more bitter than usual for a bock. Overall itís drinkable but struggles to reach average quality.

Move along, nothing much to see here. Nice label. Pretty average nondescript beer.

Slight orange hue, thick foamy light creme head. Nose is malt. Bittersweet. Middle is toffee & caramelized malt, like liquid bread. Finish has a little hop kick, but stays mostly sweet.

Havenít tried anything from Abita after the past bad examples. Would have passed this one by if it wasnít for finding it at a decent price in the singles section. OK one bottle wonít kill me I guess. Poured up a clear amber with no head. Smells of caramel and rust. Was expecting the signature dirt back taste that previous Abita brews had but luckily and surprisingly this one did not have that. It is actually not too bad to drink. Not sure if the brewery got a new filter to clean up that swamp water or what but this one is actually good.

Bottle. Lactic caramel malt and alcohol aroma. Golden yellow with moderate head. Sweet caramel malt and moderately bitter/astringent herbal alcohol flavor. At least it tries to be a bock (unlike Shiner Bock).

Appearance: A. Burnt orange color, looks clear. Lots of small bubbles rising up. Thick rocky head. S. Some toasted malts and caramel. T. Very rich and malty, bready, toasted, caramel, hint of honey. Hop bitterness is low, spicy noble hops. AT. Finish is very crisp, clean and just a little dry. Body is full, very smooth, crisp, semi refreshing, well carbonated.
