COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Abita Bock is brewed with Perle hops and British pale and caramel malts. Our Bock is similar to a German Maibock in its high malt content, full body and slightly higher alcohol content. Available January-March.

Compared to the aroma, the rest was a let-down. Still tastes pretty good, don’t get me wrong, but not enough flavor, and a slightly off aftertaste. Tastes a little of alcohol, a little sweet, needs depth.

Used to be better, has the color and feel of a Maibock, just too carbonated. Also like other Abita beer no head retention at all. I am tired of the way people worship Abita here. It really is not all that good.

Good malty aroma and body, but a tiny bit sweeter than I’d like. Still, this is one of my favorite local beers (of the ones that are still around).

Haven’t had too many bocks, but if this is a good representation of them, I love them! Rating this beer is quite difficult because it is so increadibly difficult to describe. Forgive me for this poor description, but I describe it as ’tasting like mardi gras.’ Not for the simple fact that Abita markets this beer during mardi gras season, but for some specific qualities in the beer. It’s a mixture of various bitter and sweet flavors, NONE of which I can put my finger on. Despite this virtual gumbo of a beer, it is suprisingly smooth. Only problem with the beer is that I get very full and tired of it after a couple of them. This column might not be the most specific of review, but for this elusive beer, its the best I can do. Best thing to do is give it a taste when mardi gras rolls round. I do recomend it if you like Shiner Bock by the way.

Bottle. Aroma is fruity peach and orange and apple with a malt lighty roasted. Pours with a gold, brassy orange with a patchy white head and falling patchy lacing. Has a dry finish and a light bodied and creamy, fizzy palate.

I poured a 12 oz bottle into a goblet... The beer pours an orange, copper color with a white head that quickly faded to nothing. It has a nice nutty, buttery, toffee aroma. The taste first consists of a light lemon flavor on the back of the tongue, a wave of butter, nuts and caramel washes over and leaves a nice balanced aftertaste. The beer is light with stinging carbonation and a bit of a sticky finish. I thought this was a well done bock, I could definitely drink this again.

I bought a single bottle of this from Binny’s Beverage Depot in Plainfield, IL for $1.69 in Late 2011. Pours a golden amber color with a moderate off-white head. Scent is floral and wheaty. The taste is flavorful with a great blend of slightly bitter hops, sweet malts, and floral/hibiscus tones. Drinks smooth and is quite refreshing. My first Abita beer and I plan on drinking many more!

Abita seems good a brewing down the middle brews. Most are drinkable but none excell in their respective styles.
