COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Abita Bock is brewed with Perle hops and British pale and caramel malts. Our Bock is similar to a German Maibock in its high malt content, full body and slightly higher alcohol content. Available January-March.

Bottle poured a clear amber with a small dissapating off white head. Aromas of toasted malt, peaches and apples. Palate was light bodied and smooth. Flavors of sweet malt, apple, and a hint of peach with a sweet semi dry finish.

Bottle. Pours an amber body with an off white head. Big malty content, caramel, grain, light fruity esters and some unrefined sugars. Decent.

Orangish pour. Off white head. Aroma of wheat bread, one hop pellet and some honey. Flavor is very malty sweet. Generic honey wheat bread and some light caramel. Not much going on here.

UPDATED: JUN 27, 2006 This is awfully light, golden in color, even for a Maibock, although it’s practically headless like one. Sweet malt aroma with a hint of grassiness. It seems to be a bit watery in the mouth. The sweet maltiness is pretty subdued for a bock. Very clean finish.

Aroma light nose, malty , soft with slight creamy accents.6-
Appearance highly carbonated, clear amber lager with good presentable creamy head.4-
Flavor and Palate : earthy, nutty front with thinner body. This is quiet evident if you call your self bock. Earthy, cellar like finish. Strange.

Bottle. Head is initially small, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is clear light amber. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (grain, husks), with notes of DMS and chemicals. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately bitter, husky, unclean. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Extremely poor. Blindly I would call this an American Dark, not a bock. It’s just swill lager with some color in its cheeks. Undrinkable.

Golden color with a decent two fingers of cream colored head. Deep sweet malt, near treacle, hint of floral/minty hops. Initial bit of corn, but after that has diminished, light sweet malt balanced with a faint hops kiss. A mild maibock, but very drinkable.

Bottle (12oz). Thanks to my Summer06 SecretSanta!. Bottle best before July ... something, but what do they know? Poured clear amber with reddish tinges at the top, a small off-white foamy head. Decent aroma - bready yeast, lightly toasted cereal grain malt, a hint of alcohol and light citrus hops, maybe a hint of sulfur on warming. Tastes like a bock - bitter herbal hops, grainy toasted malt, hint of citrus and alcohol, a little floral sweetness balanced the medium bitter finish. Average boday, astringent, a little stickiness on the tongue - pretty solid, really, defnitely over 3 and one of their better offerings IMO.
