COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Abita Bock is brewed with Perle hops and British pale and caramel malts. Our Bock is similar to a German Maibock in its high malt content, full body and slightly higher alcohol content. Available January-March.

Very clear amber with a white head. Spicy yeasty aroma with sulfer/ burnt rubber. Light/ medium body with a frothy mouthfeel. Decent grainy malt, lightly sweet caramel flavor. Not too bad.

Rejoice, another Abita beer. So this is is supposed to put one in the festive mood of mardi gras? Pours a clear amberish, white head. Aroma, pale malts, hops and a sweet doughy malt nose as the beer warms up a bit. Flavor, bitter/grassy hops, light caramel and mild toasted malt flavors, cardboard mouthfeel that is one dimensional except for the faint touch of doughy palate.

12 oz bottle - Central Market - Austin, Tx. Pours a dark orange with little to no head - what is there is snow white. Aroma is pretty much non-dememo - pick up some fresh lake water accents, a faint whisp of caramel. Flavor has some of those same malty caramel notes with a bit of cotton candy sweetness. Mouthfeel is thick and slightly syrupy - highlight of this one. A very decent bock- especially from the south. Enjoyed

(12oz bottle thanks to Dixonian) golden-orange pour with creamy fine tan bubbles. Nose of florals, stinky, cereal grain. Taste of sugar, grain, old, rotten. Abita beer is never my favorite. Linger is pretty gross.

This copper ale poured with a fluffy off-whtie head and a toffee aroma. There is a reasonably good caramel malt base and enough hopping to provide a balance of bitterness. It’s pretty ho-hum, but drinkable.

12 ounce bottle - $1.49 Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia (though it wrap up as Abita Christmas [close enough, I suppose]). Best By: 05/16/10 Appearance: Pours a clear, amber-gold body with a frothed, off-white head. Smell: Pale malts with some light toasty qualities and an iota of light caramel held within. Slight hop spiciness along with a meager background fruitiness. Taste: Pale malts with distributed tastes of lightly toasted grains and lightly toasted sliced bread. Slight caramel sweetness. Spicy, earthy hops with a good amount of malt-countering bitterness. Just a hint of peppery alcohol tones. Drying finish with bit more spice and, at the tail end, a small hint of honey. The combination of toastiness, honey, and graininess eventually leads me to picture a mouthful of whole-grain Cheerios. Not that that’s a bad thing! Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-plus carbonation. Drinkability: Typically, I find Abita brews to be lackluster at best, but this lil’ bock isn’t half bad. If a regular dose of Cheerios is heart-healthy, sure Abita Mardi Gras Bock has some health benefits as well.

Tap at Cowgirl Seahorse. Pours a light, shiny brown-amber. Medium white head. Nose is sweet, caramel malts. Flavor is malty, with some maple and caramel notes. Also some warming alcohol. Rich malty aftertaste. Pretty good.

1/17/10. 12oz bottle. Clear light amber pour with a big, fluffy eggshell head that sticks forever. Light caramel malty aroma with a similar flavor that packs a touch of bitter and metallic hints. Better than I expected.
