COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Abita Bock is brewed with Perle hops and British pale and caramel malts. Our Bock is similar to a German Maibock in its high malt content, full body and slightly higher alcohol content. Available January-March.

Filtered light gold color with small, thin white head. Aroma is all DMS and musty malt. Taste has a toastiness to it but this isn’t a good beer at all. No balance, thin boy and a putrid taste. Adios muchacho.

Bottle. Poured a small white creamy and smooth head with fine sized bubbles that quickly dissipated. Fast-rising carbonation, transparent and a gold hue. The aroma was malty, sweet, and clove. The flavor was sweet, malty and very watery. The mouthfeel was smooth, watery and thin. This was a light bodied beer with sparse lacing. Nothing outstanding here.

phaleslu (3178) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - MAR 9, 2011
Draft at The Royale on Mardi Gras. Pours a mostly clear orange-gold color with a small, sticky white head. There just isn’t much going on in the aroma- some Munich malts, grass, and sugar, but everything is so muted. Flavor of sweet and Munich malts, grass, toast, sugar, and a hard-to-place bitterness that comes off as a phenolic booze note. Light-medium bodied, with moderate carbonation and a sweet, mildly bitter mouthfeel. Dull but drinkable.

At least it’s better than Shiner’s offering... slightly weak malt masks a weak caramel sort of flavor. Interesting, but only as interesting as Pauly Shore was.

Aubrey (3125) - Bellingham, Washington, USA - AUG 17, 2002
UPDATED: MAR 31, 2006 Clear and deep golden; weak head leaves only a fine white ring clinging to the glass for dear life. Sugary texture with a fizzy carbonation. Pinch of DMS lingers in the nose. Finishes relatively clean, with a little sweet/sour thing going on. Grainy cereal notes. Almost white-winish in nature. Apple notes linger in the aftertaste; combination of Granny Smith and Golden Delicious. Herbs, light flowers and a nip of grass.

FlacoAlto (3085) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - AUG 23, 2005
A light amber-tan colored head sits atop this brilliantly clear copper colored beer. The aroma is subdued with notes of sweet malt, a hint of sweet orange peel, and a bit of alcohol; not really much there though. The taste is lightly sweet up front with a body that seems both thin and slightly full at the same time. The predominant taste is of sweet malt with a bit of caramalization to it; overall, like in the aroma, this beer is pretty bland. Certainly there is not anything wrong with this beer just a bit uninspiring.

On tap. Oaky dark gold, clingy head. Light, pruney-floral aroma. Well-hopped with traditional lager hops, biscuity, not sweet, ABV noticable. Finishes with a long grainy bitterness and moderate astringency. Medium body, finish goes yeasty. A good beer with food, especially on a nippy winter day in Dixie. Spectacular with the gyros at the brewpub.
