Yep, had a decent caramel flavor. Something about the taste annoyed me after three beers, and i’m not too sure what it was, nor do i personally care too much either, because i probably wont be buying this stuff again, unless however, my only other choices are Coors Light and Bud light.

Rerate: Trying this up north, where there are many finer bocks, I realize that it just doesn’t do as well as when it stands head and shoulders above the other fare in a busy bar in New Orleans.
Original rating 12/31/01 (3.3) Here’s something weird - I sampled this with one of their ambers and noticed the same strange cidery flavour in both. I despised it in the amber, but in a concentrated form in the bock, with a more substantial malt body and some decent hops, the same flavour I couldn’t handle in the amber seemed quite pleasant, a nice accent.

medium off white head. a piss color of someone with high circulating levels of antidiuretic hormone. There is some strange sour/fruity aroma that I can't quite explain, probably because it has the aroma of something thats deadly to inhale. Given the looks of this one, I was surprised by its somewhat full bodied nature. For only 6.13% they did a good job of getting the alcohol to come through in the flavor. It doesn't detract much, but its right there with the hoppy finish. The maltiness is somewhat muted by the alcohol and hops. I give this a "not too bad for looking like a dehydrated person's piss."

This was not much different from a typical pale bock that you see during the Spring, but this one seems to be a little more watery. A nice beer still.

UPDATED: JUL 18, 2006 A light amber colored body. Aroma of maple with some fall leaves, grass and socks. The taste is dry cherries with some walnuts. Finishes a little soapy. I had this one again and got about the same impression. A decent bock.

On tap at Coles
Aroma light nose, malty , soft with slight creamy accents.6-
Appearance highly carbonated, clear amber lager with good presentable creamy head.4-
Flavor and Palate : earthy, nutty front with thinner body. This is quiet evident if you call your self bock. Earthy, cellar like finish. Strange.

Bottle from BevMo in Elk Grove, CA. As Abita Mardi Gras Bock. Pours a light orange gold color with a moderate white head. Aromas of noble hop and caramel. Medium body with sharpish carbonation. Flavor is caramel with nobel hop, kind of like an amber pilsner. Ends mildly sweet with supporting bitter. Not bad.

Sweet with a fairly big head. Thought the finish was dry and the brew while acceptable not outstanding
