COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Abita Bock is brewed with Perle hops and British pale and caramel malts. Our Bock is similar to a German Maibock in its high malt content, full body and slightly higher alcohol content. Available January-March.

Pours an orange with an medium head and some lace. The aroma is somewhat vegetal and very faint with some light fruity notes. The flavor is fruity and toasty with some mild spice and some good crisp hoppiness.

Nothing really remarkable, just pleasant memories. It was a sure sign of spring, Carnival and crawfish. Classic bock flavors and colors - malt, alcohol, some hops, glowing red color.

Draft. Pours a light amber color with a small white head. Aroma of pale malts, grain, and some light caramel. Flavor is malty sweet with caramel, grains and a touch of hops with a medium body and a dry bitter finish.

Pours with a nice maibock color and a masssive white head. Bready malty smells... a watery round mouthfeel with the flavor held in the center. Decent quaffing beer, but light in flavor for a bock. Refreshing.

Bottle. Pours an amber body with an off white head. Big malty content, caramel, grain, light fruity esters and some unrefined sugars. Decent.

Draft at The Royale on Mardi Gras. Pours a mostly clear orange-gold color with a small, sticky white head. There just isn’t much going on in the aroma- some Munich malts, grass, and sugar, but everything is so muted. Flavor of sweet and Munich malts, grass, toast, sugar, and a hard-to-place bitterness that comes off as a phenolic booze note. Light-medium bodied, with moderate carbonation and a sweet, mildly bitter mouthfeel. Dull but drinkable.

Hazy amber. Pretty sweet beer, lots of caramel to it. It’s not a great beer, but it went really well with the gumbo we had for mardi gras.

Pours a clear golden-orange color with a thin, frothy head and high carbonation. Aroma is of noble hops, caramel malt and some slight malt sweetness at the very end of the sniff. Flavor has some noble hopsat the start, slightly skunky taste, but then quickly moves into the British pale malt with its distinct toasted flavor, followed up by the light sweet caramel malt. Beer has a light feeling to it but does carry a smooth, light flavor. Overall the beer is an okay example of this style but nothing extraordinary nor something I would buy on a consistent basis.
