Similar to a German Maibock? Thet’re joking right? Not a bad beer but I would not compare it to a Maibock.Where were the malts? Thw color was a light as a pils!

Yellow with a big white head. Aroma and flavor are a little sweet and malty. But seem pretty similar to BMC

Bottle. Hmm, how did I miss this one this whole time? Extremely light for a bock, I was thinking exactly the same thing that the most recent rater thought: that it looks more like a pilsener. The taste is decidedly non-bockish, but as it stands, it would be a decent sports watching beer and I’ll rate it as such. A little effervescent and otherwise, it’s pretty much an amber ale with some chocolate thrown in.

12 oz bottle: Pours clear, lightly amber w/ a short lived off white head. Medium toasty malt dominates with just a hint of green apple tartness, clean with some light floral hops, otherwise un inspiring. Clean toasty malt taste w/ a bit of tartness up front. Clean and bland otherwise. Finish is on the semi sweet dry side w/ a bit of toasty malt in the short lived aftertaste. Highly carbonated, prickly m/f. Smooth. A good starter beer for switching someone to better beer without killing their palate.

Pour out of 12 oz bottle is hazy orange with thin white head, aroma has notes of caramel, some nuts, toffee, touch of weird grass and biscuit notes, hints of mineral and slight butter notes. Taste is a mix of caramel, hints of biscuit and grass notes, touch of slight nutty and cocoa notes, hints of slight grape, finishing fairly sweet.

Pours pale amber with thick off-white head and foamy lacing. Notes of hay and grass. Balanced taste that is more reminiscent of a pilsener than a heller bock.

12oz bottle, labeled "Mardi Gras Bock". Thin, cream colored head, fading to minimal. Clear yellow orange color. Bubbles on the glass. Stronger, but crisp carbonation. Fruity hop aroma, and some metallic malt. Butterscotch. Like most Abita brews I’ve tried, this has got above-average drinkability going for it. Light sweet taste, some bitter and savory in there. I’m not a bock fan, but this is OK... Pretty much as good as I expected it would be.. Gets boring halfway through

UPDATED: SEP 28, 2011 A good beer with a rich amber color and a somewhat nice thin foamy head. Not too heavy so it’s a good beer to be enjoyed readily throughout the day. Scents and tastes of caramel and malt are noted but neither of which are too heavy or overbearing of the other; but there’s a nice little bite of hops at the end that makes this a right-tasty beer!
