COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Abita Bock is brewed with Perle hops and British pale and caramel malts. Our Bock is similar to a German Maibock in its high malt content, full body and slightly higher alcohol content. Available January-March.

Used to be better, has the color and feel of a Maibock, just too carbonated. Also like other Abita beer no head retention at all. I am tired of the way people worship Abita here. It really is not all that good.

Pale yellowy beer, with something of a lager about it. Drinkable but uninspiring.

Draught. Not sure if a bad keg or what, but a weak, caramel/malty maibock without nearly enough carbon or hops.

On draught at Poppy’s on the Riverwalk in New Orleans. Pours a clear copper color with a fine white head and continuous bubbles. Slight malty aroma. Medium body with thin, somewhat hoppy finish. Not expected from a bock. Slight caramel flavor but no rich maltiness. Disappointing.

Pour out of 12 oz bottle is hazy orange with thin white head, aroma has notes of caramel, some nuts, toffee, touch of weird grass and biscuit notes, hints of mineral and slight butter notes. Taste is a mix of caramel, hints of biscuit and grass notes, touch of slight nutty and cocoa notes, hints of slight grape, finishing fairly sweet.

Bottle. In the form of Mardi Gras Bock. It was an ok heller bock. Aroma was like earthy hay with a ever so slight citrus with a touch of skunk. Nice head and lace. Color was a dark yellow. Flavor was not so great. Just average.

Leftovers from the roomie’s celebratory 6 pack. Pours amber with white head. Immediately one smells the unmasked alcohol sweetness, which is accentuated by the caramel malt forward body. Taste is as expected, though the beer has more medium a body than predicted. Lots of sweet caramel malt propel this beer to a clean finish.

Clear copper color, light lacey head. Nothing too special. Sub par bock flavor. Very mild malts and low carbonation. Eh.

Very clear amber color. Malty sweet nose. Smells like college. Tastes malty and sweet. Light bodied straight forward, would be good with very flavorful spicy food, Italian, Indian, fried food. Sour aftertaste. Better than average.

Thanks to Mike and Sarah for this. Sweet malty lager. Not bad, easy drinking. Not super complex. Serving: Bottle

12oz bottle, labeled "Mardi Gras Bock". Thin, cream colored head, fading to minimal. Clear yellow orange color. Bubbles on the glass. Stronger, but crisp carbonation. Fruity hop aroma, and some metallic malt. Butterscotch. Like most Abita brews I’ve tried, this has got above-average drinkability going for it. Light sweet taste, some bitter and savory in there. I’m not a bock fan, but this is OK... Pretty much as good as I expected it would be.. Gets boring halfway through
