COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Abita Bock is brewed with Perle hops and British pale and caramel malts. Our Bock is similar to a German Maibock in its high malt content, full body and slightly higher alcohol content. Available January-March.

Taster at the <a href=/events-detail.asp?eventID=3891>Balmoral Brewhaha. Got to this pretty late in the evening, while I was pouring. So my notes are a bit sketchy. Couldnít gather too much of the smell, only that it was a fine "beer" character. Taste turned out to be rather yeasty, surprising for a beer that I would presume to have been pasteurized and carbonatedÖ or is it? Still, some fine dark roasty malts and a contrasting German hop profile make this a solid example of the style.

Drank from a pilsner glass poured from a twelve ounce bottle. A good brew a bit sweet.

Fairly classic bock. Heavy bread tones. Very malty yet crisp. No off tones finishes dry. Enjoyable and a nice unexpected throw in from Ron.

Mardi Gras Bock pours as a caramel colored body with a pleasant white head. Aroma is malty and laced with caramel. First taste begins with a malt driven solid flavor that is semi sweet and finishes mildly bitter with lingering caramel notes. A good brew overall, a solid dinner pairing for red meat dishes.

Not a huge fan. Only set me back a buck fifty, but itís a thin, seltzery beer thatís well below average for the style. Slightly bready malty and sweet, but generic and boring as well.

Bottle purchased as part of a mixed sixer at Kroger Stoneridge. Clear amber pour with a thick beige head. Aroma of malt, sweetness, caramel, lager yeast and light noble hop. Malty flavor with sweet caramel, light fruit and light hop before a sweet finish.

Disappointed. No aroma and a light color with a watery palate. Malty flavor of old bread with a slight hops presence.

Drinking the Abita Christmas Bock. Too hoppy and bitter for my taste. It was a gift so Iím not out money for trying it. Have the remaining bottles to use as marinade for brats.

Clear orange with a thin off white head. Slightly sweet malty aroma. Sweet medium bodied and smooth right to style ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Copper pour. Nose of candied caramel and light fruit. Light minerals and some diacetyl. Flavor is lager/light adjunct malt with a touch of fruit and caramel. Light bitterness. Not great, but certainly better than a good number of the ratings.

bottle as Mardi Gras Bock - Pours dark gold with a one finger off-white head. It has a light, caramel malt aroma. It tastes of sweet malt with a little caramel and hops bitterness that while still fairly mild, is more bitter than usual for a bock. Overall itís drinkable but struggles to reach average quality.
