Bottle at Ale Wife. Attractive red copper with a fair lasting head. Aroma of malt and a light level of darker spice. Woody flavour with some molasses and spruce. Hoppy light bodied ale.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Onslow (639) - Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA - DEC 29, 2010
Pour from a 12oz bottle. Medium, clear amber brew with a nice off white head. Aroma of malts, molasses, a little citrus hops, a little spice. The initial sip seems a littl elack luster, but as I drank a couple bottles the taste grew on me. Nice toasted malt base with a good spicey hops finish. Good malt / hops balance, and a respectable complexity to the hops in the finish. Crisp with a rather light palate, but refreshing with a worthy taste.

Bottle.
Aroma is spicy with some malt and molasses. Taste is malty with a light bitterness. On the lighter side. Okay but nothing special.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Shrews629 (193) - Kentucky, USA - DEC 28, 2010
Dark red/amber/copper color with a nice thick off white head. Hung around for a few minutes to leave a small film across the top. The beer is mostly clear with burnt orange highlights at the bottom. Some lacing left on the glass. Some floral and citrus hops strike me first in the nose. Picking up some peach and what smells like cinnamon and gingerbread. A bit of orange in there also. The malt is of a darker tone. Some of the citrus hops at first with the flavor followed by the cinnamon. Ther gingerbread melds nicely with another sort of spice that I can’t indentify right off. Seemingly well balanced and enjoyable. Medium body mouthfeel. A tad bit watery. Was smooth and relatively crisp. Left a little to be desired on the palate. This is an easily drinkable beer. Worth a try if you get the chance. I did like the taste very well and it seemed to hit the spot, as far as for Christmas spirit. This would be nice with sugar cookies I think. Glad I got to sample it.

I had to have one of these on Christmas, even though it’s another Amber. Alittle bit of Cinnamon and nutmeg and possibly some other spices added to this Amber ale.

12 oz bottle courtesy of my 2010 Winter Secret Santa. Pour is a clear copper mahogany with a smallish off white head. Aromais some pine hop and nutty malt, not too much else - maybe a bit of generic malt grain. Taste is the nut, fruit sweetness, pine and citrus hops, finishing with a candi sugar sweetness. Palate is medium to thin bodied, full carbonation, though flattens out and gets a bit flabby in the finish. Decent enough, thanks for sending this my way Santa!

shared bottle. pours a dirty orange with a small white head. sweet malt aromas with some light cherry. light body with thin layers of caramel malts up front and grassy notes to the sides. bitter finish that ends too quickly and feels musty. not good.

12 oz. bottle from Wine and Cheese Place. Pours a really nice clear reddish amber color with an inch-thick khaki head that leaves some descending lace. Aroma of biscuity malts, toast, fruitcake, mild winter spices, roasted chocolate, and brown sugar. Flavor of toasted malts, roasted chocolate, earth, brown sugar, yeast, mild spice, dry grains, and wood. Light-medium bodied, with low carbonation and a dry, malty mouthfeel. This is fine.
