2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 potbeercollege (1322) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - MAY 28, 2010
Bottled. Unfairly purchased and drunk during summer weather. I picked it up on Toulosse street corner store. Dark red with tan head. A spicy and malty aroma. Flavor is bitter spicy malt and floral hops. All too spicy and not much else.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 hellbilly (2857) - scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA - APR 26, 2010
bottle from tops 12/14/2009.
nice looking coppery red with a half inch tan head.
the aromas of grain/malt are balanced with what seems like a bunch of hoppiness... tons of citrus along with earthy and spicy as well.
the palate is dry hoppy, spicy and nearly tingly. flavors of citrus juice and pith, earthy, rosemary/pine, some chocolate, toasty grain and some ashiness. not much of a ’christmas ale’ but it is quite tasty.
medium bodied, crisp, clean and easy drinking. 6/3/7/3/15/3.4
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 drpimento (1695) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - APR 14, 2010
Sort of interesting, but in the way that you find something which is made by people who create good things and this one looks good - but then you try it, and you come up short. Poured with a nice fine tan head and no lace color isa clear amber. Aroma is mild with a little malt, pine, and spice. Flavor is like aroma with more emphasis on malt and spice. Body is ok and carbonation is sharp. Hardly any finish at all. A better session beer than common beer.

Dark brown, great head; very thin with no real flavor.

Light, had some crisp hops to it. Seemed more like a pale ale than christmas ale. Wasn’t a whole lot of malty or anything like that. More crisp.

T: Sweet malt mess with a blend of christmas spice.
M: Medium in body, okay carbonation.
D: Pass on it.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 kiefdog (1826) - Tampa, Florida, USA - FEB 24, 2010
2008 bottle courtesy of ericandersnavy. Pours amber with reddish highlights and thin head. Aroma is light malt, spice, nuts, funk, sweet corn. Flavor is sweet, barley, sweet corn, caramel, funk. Medium body with a funky and weird finish. Just plain strange all around.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 williamherbert (1041) - Syracuse, New York, USA - FEB 21, 2010
The aroma is grassy with some sharp and earthy malts. Just this side of an amber. A touch of cherry, not bad.
The appearance is deep, glassy ruby red. A finger of frothy head. See-through but not clear. Good head retention.
The taste is oddly pilsnerish. Euro hops and a touch of chlorine. Sweetish malt, amber and cherry on the back end. Not bad but a little bland. Hints of bubblegum. More cherry as it warms.
A tad ashy and bubbly on the palate. A decent, underwhelming brew. Sweet, fizzy, grassy.
