Courtesy kiefdog. Pours clear amber with copper hues and thin white head. The aroma is sweet with malts, hints of roasty malts, some graininess and a dash of dates. Interesting. The taste is a little roasty to start then moving into mild notes of apple and faint nutmeg and cinnamon spices.

2009 Vintage. Pours dark amber with a cream-colored head. The aroma is pretty hoppy with some caramel malt. The flavor is hop-driven with earthy and piney hops. You also get some caramel and toffee with some bready malt. The beer starts hoppy and ends malty. Medium mouthfeel and carbonation. This is a good hoppy amber. Maybe the best beer from Abita I have tried.

Bottle [12oz]. Pours a slightly hazy deep amber with an average size mostly-lasting frothy tan head. Decent lacing. (3+) Slightly mild aroma’s not too shabby: Caramel malt, a good amount of nuts, some fruit, tea and a hint of spices. Slightly watery flavour of caramel malt, toffee, nuts, light spices, light hops and some fruit. I did not get any vegetal notes, funkyness or sourness that many claim to have got -- I must have gotten a good bottle? Average to medium bodied. I don’t know if the 2009 version is better then previous year’s or what, but I thought this was better then many of the ratings for it led me to believe. I’d gladly have it again.

Deep copper colored body with a medium khaki colored head. The nose is oranges with some notes of toffee and tea. There is also a little bit of fruity apple sauce. The taste is largely iced tea with some burnt green wood at the end. There is a strong note of apple core throughout each drink. There is a little hint of citrus, but the other flavors dominate. An ok brew.

Medium bodied, some spice, light carbonation, bitterness, earthiness, this beer has the Christmas spirit.

Bottle: Poured an amber color with reddish tint, head was a light white. Aroma is malty at best. Taste is sour and malt, very unbalanced. This was a very bad Christmas beer, hopefully I purchased a one of bottle or its a recipe they shouldn’t try again.

Average at best. Bottle 2009. Poured an amber color with no real head. Aroma was yeast, malts, and some spice. Flavor was weaker. Some mild hop bitters, toast and other spices. Aftertaste was a little bitter. Thin body. Very smooth and kind of watery. A lot better Christmas offerings out there.
