3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Pawola22 (1993) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 17, 2009
12oz bottle. Pours a clear, mahogany colored body with a thin, tan head that dissipates quickly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is caramel malty with some vanilla, nuts, bread, and some flowery citrus hops. Flavor is similar. Starts with a light to moderate caramel sweetness, nuts, and bread. A decent amount of earthy hops balance this throughout before it finishes with a light bitterness. A bit of a citrus, toast, and vanilla spice in there too. Medium body and smooth with a moderate aftertaste. Overall, not bad, but nothing special. A decent malty, earthy, sweetly spiced Christmas Ale. Easy drinking and enjoyable, just unremarkable.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 glennmastrange (1547) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - DEC 15, 2009
Bottle. Moderate roasted and caramel for the malt, light pine and herbs for the hops, dough for the yeast, and hints of spice and dried dark fruit. Head is average size, creamy, slightly off-white with thin fair lacing and is mostly diminishing. Flavor starts lightly to moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly sweet, acidic and bitter. Palate is light to medium, watery and has a soft carbonation and a lightly astringent finish. A nice beer, just not a whole lot to it and a out of balance.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 brewski519 (645) - Morrisville, North Carolina, USA - DEC 12, 2009
Pours a reddish amber with a thin white head. Typical amber ale malty aroma, with a spicy, vanilla scent. Medium to full in body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is caramel malt, vanilla, nuts, clove, and plenty of spice. Nice dry finish. I actually enjoyed this one more than I expected when I saw the ratings.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 mcox90 (1044) - Wilton, New Hampshire, USA - DEC 10, 2009
12 oz botlle acquired in trade with Soonah. Pours an unattractive muddy reddish brown color with a 1/2" beige head. Aroma was sort of like caramel malt. but had a funk to it. Average palate with average carbonation. Flavor was a mix of malt, earth and a hint of chocolate. Not bad, certainly drinkable, but nothing special either.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 milljam (682) - Norman, Oklahoma, USA - DEC 8, 2009
Eh...this had weird aroma....hints of nut, cinnamon, and malt, but also something funky. Flavor was bland.....blah.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 drowland (3570) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - DEC 6, 2009
Fresh 2009 batch, 12oz bottle into a pint glass. The pour is a neat red brown with a one-finger off-white head that shrinks but sticks around. The aroma is fresh citrus hops with some chocolate back there somewhere. The flavor is aged hops, some chocolate, and a lot of nuttiness with a hint of salty Chinese food in there (not really sure how else to describe this). Medium body, medium carbonation.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 thornecb (2961) - Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA - DEC 6, 2009
Pours light mahogany into a shaker. Off-white head pancakes as it recedes to sicken surface leaving sheet lacing. Dark caramel aromas. Dry sharp caramel upfront turning slightly sour in the astringent metallic finish.
3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 ronaldtheriot (362) - Laplace, Louisiana, USA - DEC 6, 2009
This ale has little to no aroma, a reddish color, and a rather bitter taste. It is not super flavorful, but it’s pretty good. I enjoyed it more as I drank it. It has a heavy mouth feel, and it felt fattening. Overall, I liked it.
