A pretty beer with a clear amber brown pour and a tall creamy off white head. The aroma is spice, roasted nuts, citrus, and piney hops. Medium bodied, low carbonation. Slightly sweet, good spice, toasted malt, and a nice low key bitterness. Feels smooth and well rounded on the finish. A nice Christmas Ale with the spices in check, not just another ginger - cinnamon - orange rind bomb.

Bottle. Nice toasty toffee aroma with dried fruits (apricot and oranges), mild spices and a smooth flowery and sprucy hoppiness. Kind of the same stuff in the taste except some extra coffee. Nice, but the mouthfeel is way too watery.

Capa (1544) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 27, 2011
Nice dark amber with a beige head. Toasty malts, spices, light sweetness. Medium body. Flavor has a nice spice bite, sweet malts, toasted malt. Has the makings of a good beer but doesn’t come together like one.

Pours a clear, dark, amber color with at large white to caramel head. A light hops (flowers and spruce) and equal malt (spice and nuts). The taste is light to medium bitter and a slight hint of sweetness. The body is light with a creamy, slick texture. The carbonation is average and the finish is bitter and pleasing. This isn’t a beer I will be looking for when winter comes round again.

Bottle. Dark amber, beige head. Aroma: caramel, vanilla, light hoppy. Taste: caramel, berries, some nuts, low to medium bitter, vanilla. Medium-bodied. Pretty nice, but doesn’t really give me the Christmas spirit.

12oz bottle. Rating #393. Crystal clear dark amber/red pour with a nice dusty white head, real pretty. Big toasty aroma followed by a faint hop note. Hoppy up front, moderate bitterness that faded after a bit and with more toasted malt. (2068)

355 ml bottle from Systembolaget. Clear, deep amber liquid with medium to big off-white head. Aroma of grapefruit hops, caramel, biscuits and spices. Maybe a bit cooked vegetables. Taste is light sweet, light bitter and light fruity. Boring, not much is going on here. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Doesn’t taste bad but is too boring, still nice with some hoppiness amongst all the malty Christmas brews.

Bottled. Clear mahogany colour, rich but brief head. Salt and grapefruit on caramel. Mid dry with clean, hard mouthfeel and medium body. Crystal malt spiced with tropical fruit hops. Salty finish.
