COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As befits any Christmas present, each years offering is a unique product crafted with special care. Generally, this beer is a dark ale, however, the recipe changes each year. Available November thru December.

2002 version. Abita beers have not been very good lately (possibly due to the buyout by one of the big boys?), but this one was actually decent. Not a dark ale, more of a standard red ale. Nothing special, but drinkable, which is an improvement over recent Abita brews. (They used to be good, really!)

Bottle. Copper color with a laced white head. Malty and a tick body which was a little sticky.

2002 bottle, light copper clear color, has a thin white head, light malty grassy aroma, light malty sweet grainy flavors, watery thin mouthfeel like most of their brews, this is not a dark ale, I think this is weak for a winter brew.

(2002) Clear golden body with medium white head. Aroma is light, slightly grassy. Flavor is smooth, moderately sweet, slight biscuit and grassiness. All I can think of for calling this a winter seasonal is context -- Louisiana’s winters are very mild, so maybe their winter seasonals are more akin to anyone else’s fall seasonal.

Crackery-grain aroma. Honey gold. I liked this a tad better than the Fall Fest, but that’s not saying much. Bitter on the sides of the tongue. Long bitter finish. The beer appears to be mostly biscuit malt or some other dry malt, and it almost has a wheaty character. Abita’s strength seems to be in accompanying Cajun chow...

This beer is alright, color of honey...a "dark ale"? Aroma of sweet celery/vegetable. Taste was creamy yet spicy....drinkable, but not addictive.

Batch 2002: This is like a mildly spiced vienna and really isn’t all that good.

This is a nice winter seasonal. I like this beer because it’s not spiced out of control like some Winter seasonals. Just a little undetermined spicy zing and a nice sweet & malty aftertaste mark this beer as a good brew for a cold winter day.
