As befits any Christmas present, each years offering is a unique product crafted with special care. Generally, this beer is a dark ale, however, the recipe changes each year. Available November thru December.

Bottle @ Coles Buffalo NY. Pours deep amber color. Decent medium to full body. Caramel & Roasted malts in the nose. Taste a little more of the same but not too favorful. Not really sure why this a Christmas beer but maybe Christmas is different in the Bayou than in NY

Thanks lb4lb. The color was crisp amber. The head was creamy, thn, and off-white. The aroma was rotten eggs, salt, and a slight metalic smell. The flavor was bland and a little metalic. The palate was average. The finish was clean.

lb4lb sent me this as an extra. Pours a murky soft amber with a one finger fizzy off white head. The aroma is a little off putting, some spice is noticeable, grassy, not very good at all. The flavor is definitely grassy, a little sour, some spice, really carbonated, thin palate. Crappy beer.

2007 ed. 12 oz bottle poured into pint glass- poured semi transparent darken amber, foamy off white head that slowly sank, aroma of lightly roasted malt. Hits the mouth with a thin body, extremely light malt and caramel defined, finish tails off with slight hop note. Was expecting something great from the appearance, but was let down.

Got minimal aroma from this dark brown beer. Has a sweet, caramel/malt and light chocolate flavor balanced by citrusy American hops. A vague hint of spices present. Watery finish. This one was a disappointment.

UPDATED: NOV 17, 2013 Pours a clear dark amber with a yellowish off-white head that isn’t impressive, although there is some glass coating. Aroma is lightly roasted malt along with maple syrup. Not as sweet tasting as it smells, it’s actually quite dry. I get dark chocolate, coffee, and spices. Almost a medicinal bitterness is there throughout; not sure if the hops or the roasted malt is the source. Not bad, but not something I’d buy again. There are too many others that are better for the same price. Looking at past ratings, they’d do well to return to their 2003/2004 season recipe. It’s 2013 and it has been 6 years since I last tasted. It has either gotten better, or I was too brutal in my original rating, so here goes with a 2.7.

Pours an amber body with a small head. Almost no carbonation. Aroma of malt. Flavor is malty with a harsh dry bitterness. A bit of caramel, spice, and hops rounds out the malt. An average beer at best.

Pours an amber color with a small, white head. Mildly spiced aroma, a touch of cinnamon. Watery body, metallic taste, a little caramel and vanilla. Average.

2007 bottle, taken from a six pack at Total Wine, in Huntersville, NC. This year’s label is silver, with a maroon/red lettering. Beer pours a dark amber color with a light white head. Aroma is lightly spicy. Taste is hoppy with a sharp bite on the end. Not bad, but nothing too special.

UPDATED: JAN 12, 2012 Syrupy, like maple syrup and bread crust. Yet this is surprisingly dry at the same time. Muddled brown and no lave. Buttery aroma. But cookies, oatmeal raisin granola. Thin and sweet. Raisin. Not bad but still abita. Diacetyl and low grade malt, no hops. Buttery brown bread, and not the worst beer. 3,5,2,5,10
