2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
(Bottle) Pours a dark cooper color with a small head. Had a strong aroma; almost smelled like a sweaty sock when it first was poured, but then tamed down. Descent taste, but expected a better Christmas brew from Abita.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
The 2009, from the tap at Mudvile 9. Pours a dark brown with a medium beige head. Nose of sweet malts. Caramel predominates in th flavor, with the strong malt character lurking around the outskirts. Only a faint sense of bitterness. Medium bodied and relatively smooth. Not too bad.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
(2002) Clear golden body with medium white head. Aroma is light, slightly grassy. Flavor is smooth, moderately sweet, slight biscuit and grassiness. All I can think of for calling this a winter seasonal is context -- Louisiana’s winters are very mild, so maybe their winter seasonals are more akin to anyone else’s fall seasonal.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Typical amber ale aroma, with something spicey besides, perhaps a bit of vanilla. Reddish copper color with a white head that rose and fell. Medium to full in body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is caramel, nutty, clove?, definitely spice things. The finish is fairly dry, and there is enough spice to balance any residual sweets. Not a lot of hop bitter. Decent drink, but not a typical highly flavored winter beast.
